Window won't auto up and turn signal won't cancel after jumpstart
Hi,
How are you guys? I'm having a bit of an issue with my E90 2011 335xi. I've been reading a lot of the issues i'm having so the purpose of this post is to run it by you and see if I missed something before sending it to the dealer. We had a really cold week in Ottawa/Canada maybe 3 weeks ago. I had to jumpstart the car one morning. My battery might be going too. So that's something to keep in mind. For what it's worth, my car has two mods done. JB4 + Alpina transmission flash. Problem #1: Front driver and front passenger Windows won't auto up When I double press the window button to bring the window down, it will automatically go down on it's own. As usual. If I bring it up, I have to leave my finger on the button since it won't "auto up" to full close position. One procedure I found was, with the JB4 turned off (no maps loaded), get the car in ignition only and close the window. Bring the window down and keep pressing the window button for 20 sec. Release the button then bring the window up and keep pressing the window button for another 20 sec. I did this several times with no sucess. At one point, the windows wouldn't even move Problem #2: Another issue I've been having since I jumpstarted the car, is that my turn signal doesn't cancel when I turn. From what I read, you have to "re-initialise" the wheel sensor because the sensor doesn't know, or hasn't learn the position of your wheel. I disconnected my battery for about 5 minutes, re-connected it and I had the 4x4 error, which is what I wanted. I then turned the wheel from lock to lock completely, then drove off and see if the turn signal was cancelling. Same thing. I do have access to the INPA software, which you can go in and choose the FRM from the chassis section and proceed with the windows de-initilisation and then re-learn. I did that as well. The window will simply come down during initialisation and never back up. The auto-down works, it's only the auto-up. Thanks in advance and sorry for the very long post. |

I swapped the battery out (was the original battery and i've been getting low battery warnings). I registered the battery with INPA. I thought maybe this was a battery problem since you tend to get really weird issues when the battery is going ...
Well, it wasn't it Back to square one! |

Did you check the connector on the window switch? Any corrosion? On mine I replaced the master window switch and it fixed my issue but it was different from yours. In my case my none of the windows would work on the driver side window switch.

ouch $300 yet still left with your problem, my suggestion would be to re-flash your ecu to stock ( to reset it) and see what happens from there?

I have the exact same two problems in a 2010 128i I just bought. Have you solved yet?

For your first issue "Front driver and front passenger Windows won't auto up" you should check out this post: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=462100
There's a reset procedure used for the power windows. |

Dealer thinks it's the steering angle sensor (SAS) which is part of the whole switch assembly that includes the signal, wiper, and cruise control stalks. Quoted something crazy like $1300 to replace and re-program. They thought the window auto up may be fixed after re-programming the new SAS. I found the following thread with a possible cheap fix that I may try because I'm not spending that much to fix an inconvenience...

Update: I haven't tried to fix the SAS yet, but after stumbling on a couple other forums, I think my issue could be related to the JBBF (junction box). Sounds like the JBBF would explain both my OBD port and auto up windows not working, so I may try that first if I ever get around to it. Who knows if it's related to the turn signals or not...

Solved! Coming in really late to this, but if anyone in the future has this issue, the dealer “reprogrammed” the car and everything works. First they recommended the SAS and reprogram, but SAS didn’t make sense for the window issue. So I told them to just reprogram. Windows work, the little 1 in drop when you open the doors works, turn signals cancel, OBDII port works again... apparently car had never had an update. Not sure what caused it to break, but it’s been over 6 mos and still good.
