Push accessory belt back in?
Hi all,
I have a 2010 328i (N52 engine) and I looked at my accessory belt and see it halfway off its tracks. Is it safe to just push the belt back onto the track? Is it even possible? I wanted to ask before I tried it incase that messes with the tension or something else. Thanks! |

If the belt gets out of the pulley it can get ingested by the engine trough the front main seal and cause catastrophic damage. https://www.autoscopecarcare.com/bmw...inside-engine/
You should really investigate why this belt is not in the proper position and consider replacing the idler pulley, tensioner and the belt itself before this escalates. Worn engine mounts and broken AC clutch bearings can also play a role, but that's not common. Last edited by Meeni; 01-23-2020 at 01:25 AM.. |
