Informed or misinformed? Pod filters N.S.W

So i've heard pods filters are legal in NSW? However searching it up all you get a bunch of old information from years ago. Only thing i've found is here

I'm guessing their only legal if covered so nothing really has changed?

Not really concerned if it's legal or not as id run whatever anyway Would just be good to know if anything has changed at least.

This is not an oem airbox vs pod thread i'm sure its been done a couple of times

Dunno if things have changed or if my understanding was same as yours ...
Pods needed to be contained/ covered so that if the car backfired it didn't cause a fire

Be interesting to see if that really is a requirement though...
