Question 2007 E93 - Are Spings Shot?

Hi all,

Just to let everyone know, I finally got that oil-temp sorted out. The aftermarket auto trans cooler worked a treat, when combined with (contacted liqui moly tech support) ans he suggested: Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40 with an add of the Cera Tec. 5W-40 because of engine age and use.

Can drive aggressively all day on paddles, and oil temp doesn't go over 120C.

*********

The problem I'm faced with now is the suspension. Took it to the Indy shop a couple of weeks ago, and it was supposed to have Bilstein B6, installed.

Picked the car up, and then went and got rear tires replaced. It was then I discovered... NO Bilstein shocks.

Contacted Indy shop. Wont repeat the onslaught of cr#p I served up. Least to say, excuses flew. Correct shocks were re-ordered.

The wrong shockers added, were OEM equivalents.

However, the ride at times, still feels like I'm driving a boat. It's way too spongy (if that makes sense).

I'm now wondering if the problem (aside from the shockers), if the springs are shot too?

KM's = 176K

Doesn't feel tight, or a solid ride. Making a sudden, defensive driving move, not very confident in the outcome. If it's not the springs, what else could it be?

Cheers

Dave

I would replace the springs at the same time as the shockies. I replaced my standard springs after about 70,000 kms and they were stuffed.

I reckon that's the problem.

Really notice it on speed humps in shopping centres, have to go slowly slowly edge over them otherwise, it bottoms out, even with the new shocks (OEM). The Bilstein B6 have arrived, taking the car in tomorrow. Will get them to replace the springs too. Cheers!

There is no way I would ever take my car back to a shop that "accidentally" put OEM shocks on the car after I paid for Bilstein shocks. They are trying to scew you.....period.

Agreed... but it's not costing me a cent for the shocks swap-over.

Springs, they're being done for cost. If I took it some place else, I'd be up for the B6 + springs + labour.

However, after all that's completed. Time to find another shop. Though, we're I am, there's not much of a choice... rephrase a decent choice

Which shop was it that "accidentally" put the wrong shocks? So I can remember to never go there.

Yes - would be good to know. There are some sharks who claim to be "Euro Specialists" in Adelaide.

I think when my suspension dies I think I'll go for the Bilstein PSS coilovers.
