again the seamaster is great and the band is very distinctive, anyone who knows Omegas can spot the band from across the room

But the Seamaster is more rugged looking the larger size is great. Also the band was very comfortable. New you can get the Quartz version for about $1300 and the Auto version for about $1700. I went with the Quartz because of the accuracy and went with Omega for build quality, feel and looks. The watch is worth every penny, if you try it on you will buy it.

Oh yeah, fun fact...its referred to as the Bond watch, even mentioned by Bond in the Casino Royale movie...
on the train scene
girl“Nice watch. Rolex?”
Bond “No, it’s… an Omega.”

The Omega Seamaster is a decent watch, but for just a little more $$, why not look at the Breitlings...here are my 2 Breitlings (my ss & black SuperOcean Steelfish is my daily watch, while my 18k gold/ss & blue Chronomat Evolution is my "going out" or "special occasion"watch). Personally, after much research and experience with these high-end sport watches, I think the Breitlings are the some of the highest quality, larger (43mm+), and heavier sport watches in the industry for less $$ than Rolex. The Breitling watches are better than Rolex, imho...more unique, bigger, heavier, and they have a better movement.

btw -- 325 Baller, my advice is to NOT get one off the Internet. There's a secret (just in case you didn't know) about most retailers having to compete with online e-tailers...local storefront jewelers will give you a similar discount to the online dealers...you just have to ask. Best of all, you'll get the full mfgr warranty, not some online e-tailer's b.s. warranty. Just make sure the jeweler is an "authorized" dealer for x watch brand (for Breitling, find the authorized Breitling dealers on the Breitling Web site).

Also, do NOT get a fake (even the so called "swiss replicas" suck; quality isn't anywhere near the real thing)...you'll be pissed off that you spent $$ on a fake, and you'll be wanting the real thing sooner or later.

^ thats the forum ive been on.

Im going to go to some watch stores today (before the fins game) to try on and see what kind of prices they can give me. The one im looking at right now is the 2531.80 (omega) with mfg warranty and all cards and boxes for 1425. I dont know if a store can match or beat that. The reason I cant go up in price is because I have around 2-2.5k in my account and my parents are giving me 400-500 for a birthday present (in 2 months) and Id rather not spend it all on a watch.

Just so you know...you can get the 44mm Breitling SuperOcean (MSRP ~ $2,500) like mine shown above for less than $2,000 with a decent discount form a local authorized dealer. It's a similar watch (with a double anti-reflective coating and it's bigger and heavier I believe) to the Omega SeaMaster (not that the SeaMaster is a bad by any means though).

Good luck...let us know how it goes.

Both the Breitling and Omega are watches you will be happy with. I'm sure with either you'll have no regrets after the purchase. For me, Omega was like a family tradition, my grandfather and father had Omegas. I bought a Movado and had it for 10 years and last year I felt like I was growing up when I had the urge for something new. I looked at a bunch of different watches but I think subconciously went for the Omega, again no regrets. Well one regret, It was such a step above my Movado that I kind of regret not getting one earlier. I wear it everyday , everywhere. I wear a suit and tie for work and jeans on the weekend and the watch goes well with all. The same can be said for the other watches you are looking at.

Final advice, try all your contenders on and go with the one you like. Its hard but its hard to go wrong with what your looking at. I was torn for weeks between two Seamasters and could not make up my mind asking friends etc., but now looking back I know even if I went with the otherone I would have been just as content as well.

Good Luck

Ohh yeah, the advice you got here is very true, whatever you get just get it new , in person, at a authorized dealer and most can take 20% off retail with no problem.

Whichever you decide on, just do yourself a favor and buy it from a reputable shop in person. I've been burned before and it sucks.....

Walk in to the AD, try on the watches you like, make a decision, and then ask the salesperson what kind of discount can you get off their tagged price; it's as simple as that. With Breitling, you should be able to get 20-25% off MSRP, and I would assume it would be the same for Omega. Good luck.

Obviously, it's a personal decision, but I love my Breitlings (I also have a Rolex Sub and prefer my Breitlings over my Rolex), and couldn't be happier with my decisions (which is why I chose to get a 2nd Breitling less than a year after getting my first ). I wear my SuperOcean everyday -- to work, in the pool, at the the beach...I wear it everywhere and it still looks like I got it yesterday (although admittedly, I do take good care of my watches though).

^ my cousin has the brietling superavenger 44mm and it looks WAYY too big for my wrist, a 39mm fits perfect, i might be able to get by with 41-42(what ever that next size increment is) but most breitlings are 44 which is the problem

Well, try them all on b/c my wrist isn't huge either and I have both the SuperOcean (44mm wide) and Chronomat Evolution (43.7mm wide) which fit very nicely, imho. Also, there are a couple 40mm Breitlings, I believe (Colt or older Chronomat maybe???? ). I just think you'll be most impressed by the Breitlings. Regarding a good AD, I would recommend King Jewelers on Fed. Hwy. in Aventura and J.R. Dunn Jewelers on Fed. Hwy. in Lighthouse Point. Good luck!

I'd definitely go with Omega. It's got the movement and accuracy that's unsurpassed and it's absolutely timeless.

Plus, if it's good enough for 007, it's PLENTY good enough for you. Just wanted to share this pic from TimeZone (not mine) of the limited edition 007 version of the Seamaster:

Just got back from mayors, tried on the larger sized Omega Seamaster, 41mm? Fit very nicely, they wanted 1800 and wouldnt budge so im going to email the company my parents used in the Islands and see how much they can sell it to me for, and finally ill head over to jewels in time if i cant get a reasonable price and a last ditch effort to buy new. If they are all too expensive the guy on timezone said he would sell it to me for 1150 shipped with boxes and paperwork so maybe thats the best bet?

Mayors stinks. Go with one of the 2 jewelers I mentioned..check with them to see if they're Omega ADs; it seems like you're more interested in the less expensive Omega (vs. Breitling) anyhow. The Breitlings with a 25% off discount off MSRP would be ~ $1,900+. I think buying from a "good" guy on TZ is ok, but again you may not get the full warranty.

Then why not walk into a local Omega AD to look at the watch you want and say, "I know I can get this watch for $1,350 (25% off ) elsewhere...if you can match this price, I'll buy it right now...here's my Visa card (or check or whatever)."

That's what I did with my 2nd Breitling (my SuperOcean)...it listed for $2,450 (which is what they were selling it for) and walked out with the watch paying $1,840+tax. I felt good about buying it from a local AD, so if I had any problems, I could just drive over to have them take care of it...no shipping, no arguments, no hassles, etc. Plus, they registered the watch to me for the real Breitling warranty. Then, ~ 6 months later, I received my Breitling hat from Breitling!

btw -- both my Breitling watches have now had price increases.

Hey, it's your money and your watch, but I know what you're going through...there's a lot to consider when purchasing a fine watch. Good luck.
