Good progress Raj, what did you decide to do with your carbon boot? Leave it or will it have a fade effect?

I've left it in Ungie's hand to do it how he wants so will see lol.

Haha nice surprise then!

I have to agree with Ao1, defo need some shadowline trim for the windows. Surely you can get a cheap set from the breakers?

I've looked but haven't come across any yet of decent quality and value.

I might see about painting them gloss black possibly.

With the right pre- treatment spraying them would give a good long term finish. Paint job on the rest of the car would be better if they were.removed as well. More expense, but a cheap option to get them done whilst the cars in for a re-spray

Not keen on wrapping them. Most likely go down the gloss black spray route.

They are being removed as part of the respray but I've always been a little torn as to whether to leave them as an inclining to it's origins (and it doesn't look too bad against the silver) BUT will most likely be done gloss black now.

Thanks and appreciated. It does sometimes take a strong gut to be willing to have your perfectly good motor cut up

So a little update.

Ungie's eye for detail (more like OCD) saw him massaging the arches to give them just a slightly better shape:

Filled in the bumper holes etc:

And then all primered:

Along with the bonnet and side skirts:

And then decided to add his touch to the bootlid:

Garage List
That boot lid is incredible!

It reminds me of the description of the Ferrari F40 - "paint that thin that you could see the weave!"

Cheers. Yeah he's got a real attention to detail for sure and goes that extra mile. I like the fade on the number plate recess as again like the top of the lip it just gives that peak of what it actually is.

Thanks. He's in Birmingham and TBH I don't think he's going to carrying on much longer with the paint side as he actually has a full time job.

Thanks buddy.

Currently back end of next week is the completion point but as he's got a full time job too so it might overrun a little.

Ahhhhh you've painted the bootlid....... And with a fade too. And it looks bloody fab Raj, I'm not a fan of the unpainted carbon look when bootlid and bonnets are left bare to me it never looks right hence I love this.

Re the rear end arch work always always like the effort that goes in to blending something in that's not factory to look factory and blend in with the surrounding bodywork, attention to detail and those small little touches equal an end look that average joe will never know has been modified.

I've done 2 of my own cars with subtle body mods like this and it really is a a challenge to get it just right not and not to OTT. If someone can't see what's been done then to me all the efforts been worth it.

Congrats on your bold move I think once painted this is gonna look rather nice

Fair play to Ungie for massaging the wheel arches rather than just painting them as most painters would have done. He must have a great eye for detail as minor things don't usually become apparent until you finish painting and then it sticks out like a sore thumb. Strange how part time enthusiasts can do a much better job than someone doing it for a living. Sam is another example of an enthusiast in that ilk. I guess it's the difference between doing something you take pride in as opposed doing something for a pay cheque.

Anyway it's coming on fantastically and would really like to see the finished job in the flesh as photos will never do it justice.
