N55 - Interior High Pitched Noise
Have any of you guys noticed a really annoying high pitched squeal/whine while driving? It sounds like it's coming from the speakers (not sure where else it could be coming from) and even switches pitch sometimes when it starts up but then keeps the same consistent pitch until it stops. It's so unbelievably quiet yet so unbelievably annoying since it's so high-pitched. Kind of has the same effect of a tv that's on, but on a channel where nothing is playing and all you get is that faint buzzing. It seems to stop whenever the car comes to a stop for the most part, but not always. Earlier I started the car up and right away it began. I've tried turning the stereo volume up.. down.. and completely off and it has no effect on the noise. It's slowly making me go insane lol Oh, and I have a brand new 2011 with the HK system.

Not quite.. when it gets going it's constant and it's so high-pitched that i don't think a vid camera would be able to pick it up. The one in the video sounds more like a whistle.

I have experienced something like this as well. But I was under the impression that it came from the turbos. It sounds like an aftermarket BOV almost right?

Nope, not blow-off valve... I came from a 2008 fully modded 335 so I can differentiate. No golf tee mod. Aftermarket exhaust, but I know that's not what's causing it. It's definitely coming from inside the car and sounds electronic.. hense it has to be coming from the speakers I would gather.

Does it have any correlation to the climate control fan or AC? Our old E65 750i had an irritating bitch of a squeak toward the end of the lease. It only happened when the AC was on and the fan was at a certain speed. Very faint (it was imperceptible to pretty much everyone), but drove me crazy.

I've noticed intermittent, random, high pitched, quiet electronic noises coming from speakers. Can occur with engine off and even after i remove key fob from slot. There seems to be a similar but separate speaker noise definitely related using the cd player!? With this second noise, when i eject cd, the noise stops. I have base sound system.

yup. i had the exact same problem, and i knew it was that your line wasnt plugged. it sucked, that noise was so quiet but somehow at just the right frequency to be unbearable.

Yes, I just drove the new X3 35i yesterday, it sounds like some electronic interference noise coming from the speaker.
The pitch would change randomly, but it has nothing to do with your throttle or brake operations. It shouldn't be from the turbo because it has no relation to the rpm or throttle. It's very annoying. |

Hmm my vacuum line is unplugged. I haven't noticed any noise but I'm an N52.
When I turn my car off, sometimes the speakers will make a high pitched whine noise. It sounds like something is charging up, then shuts off. I haven't really looked into the problem but I think it's related to my blackberry stereo gateway. It's always plugged into the cigg lighter for power and that's a very noisy source. |
