Is it possible to use a Raspberry Pi for the Linux part of this? my laptop wont boot neither Clonezilla or UMBCD it says it's not a bootable device, my desktop wont boot it either, i guess maybe my hardware is too new or something.

I found the thread about upgrading HDD to SSD.

Based on this I sourced an IDE Interface adaptor(https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...0?ie=UTF8&th=1) and internal SSD (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...0?ie=UTF8&th=1).

Using the disk image I managed to save before my original disk finally failed I managed to create a new volume. (See attached image.) This has six partitions plus 44GB unallocated as the original disk is 80GB and new disk is 120 GB.

When I reinsert the disk into CIC and reboot CIC I see a navigation system starting up message but this ends with "Function Not Available" after about 20 seconds and Navigation is greyed out on CIC main menu. Every time I restart the CIC the Navigation appears on the menu but then greys out after 20-30 seconds.

Is there something wrong with the new disk volume that I created? How can I proceed?

Any ideas very welcome.

Thanks Paul

take a look at posts 178-180 - see if the controller revision is a factor in your case

My board is quite different to the ablecon. Is this an issue? I wasn't aware that some interfaces work and others don't.

My interface is here https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...0?ie=UTF8&th=1

I note it has no jumper functions for master/slave selection.

Bunkermentality - I am not an SME on controllers, just sharing a data point I ran into with the ones I had.

(I do not believe that Master/Slave switch presence is relevant)

What led me to suspect the controller compatibility is that I've done a checksum of the entire disk (original and new clone) and it came up identical.

@pobep My original disk failed soon after I cloned it. But I did run a full surface analysis before I did the clone so I suspect the original and new clones are identical as the clone process did not report any errors. Hence it must be the controller. But how to identify the correct controller?

Many interfaces does not work because they are MASTER by default. The drive must be slave or it wont be recognized...so if the interface doesnt work, its master

Media partition with MP3 files have dissapeared from my CIC. I took the HDD out and connected it to the PC and booted QNX and all the files are there. I then build a OBD->Ethernet cable and successfully logged into the CIC in the car. I took out the logs from QNX by sloginfo and I still couldnt see the problem. I succeeded to get the CIC to actually mount the media partition /mnt/hbmedia but still its not visible in the CIC application to move the files. I think I have done everything. I also cloned the disk and saved the image I used the original HD, the new SSD and the compatible HDD EIDE but still nothing. All other functions work fine including Navi.

Is there ANYONE who knows what to do?

I am now thinking to use Tool32 and CICR_HD.PRG to see if there is an option to "re-initialize" the HDD but Im very unsure.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Someone has a freshly image from a CIC high? I have tried to clone my IDE to SSD ones with rawcopytool under Win10 64 bit and ones unter Linux Clonezilla Live. Navi works (not greyed out) but still rebooting after each 30 sec.
I think I need a fresh backup. Somebody can help me out?
It's for 7er F01 from 2010 but should be the same system (CIC high)?
Thanks

After reading thru this thread I have to wonder if just using another Toshiba MK8050GAC drive isn't the best option. I see one guy on ebay selling them for $50 new and at least you'll have a backup if your drive fails.

I've also sourced a replacement disk and manged to find one with Master/Slave settings. But I can't clone my new disk so I conclude my backup has errors. (The disk was rebooting frequently when I created the clone.) So am also seeking a CIC image for 2012 E93.

Does any know how/where to grab a clone?

Thanks Paull

+1 ^

Today my Navigation menu greyed out while media was still functional.

4 year old full disk backup came to rescue - Nav works again, followed by successful 2020 -> 2023 map upgrade.

The above issue was E91.

I managed to fail NAV on E70, do not have a backup.
E70 still runs factory HDD (no SSD).

Can I use a E91 disk clone for E70?

I just successfully took an image of my CIC drive and copied to a CF flash card yesterday, works perfectly and now have a backup. I can provide my image if anyone needs it, only issue is I had some music on it when I took the image, so would need deleting afterwards.

Could you maybe help me? the Hardware part is not the hard part but the software part. I have never used or operated any Linux System ever and I would need some help with the cloning.

Thanks

Media files not visible and media cannot be erased

Hi guys

I took out the TOSHIBA drive and succesfully made an image of it. Image works since I reinstalled it on TOSHIBA original drive. I played with several drives i.e. to replace it with SSD it worked but I cant make none to read the media files. NAV and everything else works fine

Nov 29 16:38:14 2 20002 400 Failed mount of </dev/hd0t77.5> to </mnt/hbdebug>, type <qnx6>; with <Corrupted file system detected>

This is what I see from the log after telnetting

I have also attached the CIC log for your eyes

The question is how can I enable media again, is it not working because of the corrupted hbdebug? or is it a separate issue?

Any help would be appreaciated

Question: I have a 128GB 2.5" PATA Zheino SDD BUT the formatted size is only 118 GB - HDD makers use a different definition of GB from the rest of us apparently. The "Expanded Music" image is 119.25GB. WTF can I do about this ????? Is there an "Expanded Music" image that WILL fit on a 128GB FAT32 SDD ? I SUPPOSE I could burn it and see what happens......
