How does everyone clean their car wash mitts/sponges?

My grout sponge and wash mitt got filthy after the first time I used them. I don't want to introduce any more scratches after all of my hard work during the next wash.

i just thow them sponges in the washer... n make sure to check theres nothing stuck in there..

I use the sink in the garage and a little bit of car wash soap. They clean up pretty well. Though, the Proline grout sponges I use (from Lowes) are like $1.50 each - it's really not even worth the chance for that price. Just buy some new ones after a couple of washes if they're getting dirty.

i use sheepskin mitts and toss them out after 8-10 uses the fur or whatever it is tends to start coming off so i have no choice, but i just rise them with the house with pressure.

i let mine soak in water before rinsing them out thoroughly

At Innovative Detailing, its a strict proceedure that before every car we detail we use a clean bucket with soap and a clear rinse bucket and we wash the grout sponges religiously and rinse repeatedly.

After the grout sponges have expired, we let them dry out and cut them into either thirds or fourths and use these to apply rubber treament on tires and rubber trim.

My first sheepskin mitt gone bad very fast (in 4-5 washes). after that i realized that using anything other than a small amount of Woolite and cold water is not good for the sheepskin. Just massage the mitt with Woolite and cold water. It cleans perfectly and mitt stays healthy. I used my second mitt for over a year and then bought another one as the old mitt lost its puffiness. it still had not shed yet.
