I will be posting the 2gen review video I just uploaded into another thread to keep it separate from this DIY install video thread.
All in all, the 2gen resolved any issues I had (1. OEM backup camera not showing in reverse when on the Android side (only) and 2. Screen mirroring never connecting to my phone though I know it worked fine for others) and I am overall really pleased with the update. For anyone who sees the "no signal" message or even from time to time from the iDrive side, make SURE the original (purple) optical cable into the back of the new display is fully clicked into place. I have had a couple of people comment on my video with that issue, and found the cable wasn't FULLY locked in, so caused the issue and once found, never had a problem again.

Just saying make sure to check the cable even if you think it is plugged in.. had more than a few folks on my videos check that and see their version of the issue resolved. Not saying only fix, just a first place to check.

Hello guys, I have a problem with the front camera I installed, the misaligned steering wheel guidelines appear to me, as well as other 2 fixed lines that have nothing to do with it. |

It does and is there in the build if you have one of the more recent build updates.. just go into factory settings and look for "mode" under ARM settings.

Do you have the front facing camera plugged into the correct video feed in? There is one for the backup camera, and one for the front called DVR IN, assuming you are using an RCA style plugged camera and not USB.

Looks like the camera itself and the h/u are supplying guide lines. Check your camera, some have a cable to snip if you want to disable built in guide lines.

Ok but i don't understand why the steering lines are not centered with those of the camera but are shifted to the left.

Anyone have an idea on how to fix the GPS? I have a GPS splitter and after about 10 days of the signal getting picked up, it now is acting up again. Sometimes if I turn it off and on, it'll pick up the signal, but it is becoming more and more inconsistent. The GPS for the OEM is fine, just on the android side.

Like any other mobile device, it needs a good reset when acting up. As a practice, once started up I still do a pin reset before I go and everything will be fine. Should not be that way. But you learn to adapt when there are no clear answers from support. |

Hello everyone, I have the Gen2. I have a 2 issues with it, not very big issues but issues. Is it normal for me to be on the Android side and move around using the iDrive controls, the Idrive side is also moving along the menus...any workaround for that? Also any way to disable the backup camera all together? I dont have an OEM or aftermarket camera installed and every time I switch to reverse, the screen changes into the iDrive side.

Yes, and it does a split screen. The left side is the original idrive screen and the right is frankly kind of useless. Hopefully the can make it something useful in the future. In the latest update, there is a way to stretch the idrive screen, but I think that would look cartoonish. When you’re on the Avin side, the screens all look great and take up the whole screen.
