I installed the original GPS and so far so good. Seems like that splitter was a waste of $$.

How is it coded? I have a 6.5" screen and last firmware but I couldnt it.

You need the enet and easy to program. Check out the other thread on 6.5 to 8.8 screen.

AFAIK the HU_Entry (no-nav) can't be coded to extend the screen/display at the higher resolution for the Avin unit? I may be wrong...

The Avin screen will automatically show a split screen or I think the option is there in a recent update to 'stretch' the screen to fill the 10.25" (although the resolution won't change to suit the bigger screen).

I'm no expert mind you and I've not yet messed with coding my car to know better

If you have HU_ENTRYNAV you can code it to have the full wide screen display in the original menus.

You can also have the split screen on the idrive functions if you will not code the car and only have the android apps with full wide screen.

HU_ENTRYNAV doesn't mean you have navi from the factory , you may have ENTRYNAV with models produced from 2014 with the small screen and no NAVI .
If your car has HU_ENTRY (earlier than 2014) then you can't code it to full screen . You only can use the android function to stretch the image or use the split screen mode on the OEM idrive functions.

The android apps in any case use full screen capapibilities.

I'm wondering about getting one of these just so I can get Waze built into the car. I've got no interest in any of the other apps or even running sound through it.

I'm still planning to use the OEM idrive to Bluetooth to my phone, play music etc.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the Avin unit overrides the voice activation button on the steering wheel to turn on navigation. Is that true? If so, is it possible to turn it off as I still want to use Siri eyes-free via the voice activation button.

I have it just for that exact reason and listen to music on OEM side. The speech button does override it and I haven't figured out how to disable that.

I have a 2013 F30 with CIC navigation, but no extended Bluetooth, connected drive or BMW apps. I am wondering if this unit might be a good option for me.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Before the Avin unit, I had 6.5 inch OEM screen and YouTube videos doesn't use the full screen capabilities. Videos can only be played on the 6.5inch part.

if you hold the button in for 3 seconds, it launches the navigation app, doesnt matter if you're in the Android or the OEM side.

I haven't tried on OEM side, I never have it up. I can give her a try later on and let you know.

No , you can't , up to the current firmware.
If you press the button it will redirect you in the NAVI app.
It is possible that this feature can be changed with a future firmware.

Not sure for every version , but most of them use the same firmware anyway.

Need some help guys! I'm coming from the e90 world so I'm one of those daring ones to cut their dash to install one of these units.

For some reason my audio is coming out of the left tweeter only, as if it thinks I'm in phone mode. I plugged the 3.5mm audio out into the aux plug under my cup holder but it doesn't recognize the sound and continues playing via my left tweeter and no other speakers or Amp. I am not sure what is going on here, any help would be greatly appreciated.
