Here's some stats from my 2011 E92 330d Auto...
Fuel-----------litres in----gallons in------range----MPG indicated by car---Actual (worked out) Shell Standard------57.52-------12.65-----537-----44.8---------42.4 Shell Standard------54.73-------12.04-----522-----44.8---------43.4 Shell Standard------56.19-------12.36-----502-----44.2---------40.6 Shell Standard------54.97-------12.09-----509-----44.1---------42.1 Shell Standard------55.56-------12.22-----514-----40.3---------42.1 Shell Standard------55----------12.1------512-----42.8---------42.3 Shell Standard------56----------12.32-----545-----42.8---------44.2 BP Standard--------57----------12.54-----558-----44.1---------44.5 Shell V Power------55.4---------12.19-----537-----44.1---------44.1 Shell Standard-----59.62--------13.11-----600-----44.1---------45.8 Shell V Power------56.43--------12.41-----531-----44.1---------42.8 Formatting not great, but you get the picture! Averages currently read: Range: 533 MPG (car's opinion) 43.6 MPG (calculated) 42.4 In terms of driving, mixed - work is a 50 miles round trip, 70% motorway 30% urban/twisties. What's interesting for me is that there's not THAT greater difference between the car and working it out based on consumption. |

I always find these mpg threads interesting.
I have a 2008 335d saloon and consistently average 34-35mpg from trip computer (slightly worse if I work it out). Mainly rural A and B roads with little traffic, driving gently in traffic but opening things up and using the performance when not. I've only ever once seen figures drop to low 20's and that was for a short burst of spirited driving. On a long trip with family on board I've managed 45mpg, but that would take huge restraint to ever manage more than once. Curiously, when my wife drives to work, she only manages 2mpg more even though she is really cautious. She accelerates beyond a point where I'd be coasting in traffic and uses the brakes more. I did once point this out, though I shan't make that mistake again |

My remapped manual pre LCI 330d never moves from 38.7 or so no matter how I drive it, and that includes mostly fast A road driving, on DC/Mway I always cruise 80-90 and some town driving.
If I reset it before a long long it easy clears 45+. I'm going to change the stat once it gets a little warmer outside to see if it gets a couple more, 40mpg would be very nice! |
