Thoughts where this leak is coming from...

Hi guys,

I know for sure that I have a valve cover oil leak. Do you guys think this is oozing from up top and coming down to the frame or is it another issue I need to rectify?

Also when oil hits the hot exhaust doesn't it smoke white? I've been noticing that as well.

Thanks!

It would be good if you can show this with the belly pan off?
Also, a picture showing how much oil is on the Belly Pan also, this will tell us the severity.

You check your engine bay? You might be able to see where its coming from. Still trying to figure this one out myself.

Looks like a oil filter housing is leaking. What I have learned from a few replacements, oem gaskets are the best. I have personally tried 2 diffrent ones and both ended up leaking after 5k or so. Did the gasket again for the 3 time with a oem on and been 10k oil free

My guess is that the OP has a leaking oil line to the turbos.

The oil filter housing gasket is leaking for the second poster.

That is where I would start as well. Clean the areas and check for leaks.

Thumbs up Check the crankcase valve for oil leak

I had an oil leak around there and it turned out to be coming from the 'crankcase valve(Pressure Regulating Valve), my Indy mechanic told me of a TSB from years ago about this type of leak and he was right and repaired it, hopefully this will offer some help.

He recommended to replace the below for my 2006/325xi/automatic sedan:

1- Oil Pressure Switch 12618611273
2- Crankcase Vent Valve (Pressure Regulating Valve)11617531423
3- Crankcase Vent Hose - Vent Valve to Intake Manifold 11617559530
4- Crankcase Vent Hose - From Vent Valve (Extraction Hose) 11157537701
5- Crankcase Vent Hose - Vent Valve to Valve Cover 11157522931
6- Vent Valve to Oil Return Tube 11157567801
