xi no drop & 19"s
I bought a set of VMR VB3's. I have an E90 xi and I really can't afford to drop the car in any way. Did I make a big mistake by buying these rims? I'm thinking I may need to cancel my order (if I can) or just sell these when they get here cause I'm afraid they are going to make the car sit way too high up.
You think I'll be fine or it will looks stupid? The rims are 19" staggered VB3's with General Exclaim UHP's Last edited by BMWjames; 05-24-2010 at 06:02 PM.. |

Is your overall diameter the same or close? If so, the car shouldn't sit any higher than it is right now - you'll just have more wheel and less tire sidewall.

You can find out on TireRack. Just search for the tires you bought, look at the specs, and compare that to the OE 16s. Overall diameter of the 16s should be right around 25".

overall diameter will stay very close to stock but with larger wheels the gap in the wheel well looks bigger. It's an illusion because you have less tire sidewall. I'd get them and put them on the car, they will look better than 16's. TL had his 19's on for a while at stock ride height I'm sure there are pictures around here somewhere.

16 to 19..oh boy its going to be harsh but it'll look nice
another important thing is to get the correct offset, you dont want the rear to hide inside...makes the gap even bigger

55 profile to 30 profile. Hope your ride doesn't have any big pot holes .
You will be fine looks wise. It would look better dropped, but fine without a drop.

i just did this to my car
You have to get gerneral 225/19/35 fronts with
265/19/30 rear. It will look like this: 19's on generals no drop http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=388669 I love it. Not done yet. Will get there soon. I say by next month will have the car finished.

I talked to the guy from sonic tuning and he told me that was the best size to roll with. I hope he was right? check the diamiter and the amount that your car will be off. Will the speed - o - be off by how much due to the different size wheels.

I was talking to sonic tuning too, he recomended the same set up as eric@PYSpeed. Eric sold me VMR VB3s for a much better price than Sonic Tuning would sell me those replica v710s(?).

The E92 with 19's and no drop with xi looks terribly high, the E90 doesnt look so bad.

Agreed, that's a good point. That setup on an E92 (especially in the front) would look a lot worse. I see no issues with it on the E90 though.
