Water pump gave out today

Hey everyone was on my way home from visiting my old college about an hour away from reaching my home when the temp indicator came on and the car went into limp mode. I'm pretty sure its the water pump.

what sucks is the bmw cpo warranty ran out on friday and the car was just at the dealer 2 weekends prior

I do have the maxcare extended warranty that i purchased but i'm still going to try to see if BMW will still cover it. but I just put on my intake and charge pipe so I hope that's not that big of a deal. worst case scenario max care will pay then i pay the $200 deductible..

either way it sucks that this happened but i'm not too worried as I do have the extended warranty.

Garage List
Change the thermostat too. General rule of thumb is when one goes out, change the other.

yeah I'll def replace both well the warranty will just hoping they still cover it with CPO since it's only been a couple days since it expired... if not my other extended warranty should cover it.

Im pretty sure they will, most dealerships are good like that especially when you were covered under their warranty, on the other hand, take a used BMW to get serviced there out of warranty that might be a different story, goodwill repair chances are low based on my experience. Goodluck though!

just got the call from the dealer. Max Care is covering everything (water pump and thermostat) along with the oil pan gasket and alignment. Also some other gasket.

overall I'm happy with the warranty my deductible is $200 maxcare doesnt match the dealers hourly so i do have to pay a little more. my total out of pocket is around $450

Strange how the warranty covered an alignment as it is usually an item that is not covered with 3rd party warranties.
Maxcare's website specifically says suspension alignment is not covered.

Good deal!

its covered if the alignment due to replacing a part covered by warranty.

i guess to do the oil pan gasket the alignment gets thrown off.... is that right? i'm not sure but i'll take it for free.

Yes because the front subframe, which the front suspension attaches to, is dropped down to gain clearance to remove the oil pan. Dropping the subframe requires disconnecting part of the front suspension. Realignment is necessary once the car is reassembled.
