I never was able to figure it out. Signs pointed to unmetered air coming in. I tried sealing the MAF screws with teflon tape, cleaning the MAF, reseating all of seals, and even got a replacement from them. The same problems continued to occur, so I gave up and sold it.

Most other people do not have problems with it.

I have mine on a stock vehicle with no issues at all. Although you can't really hear much at 7 psi.

I tried the injen and BMS intakes on N55 is Southern California. Intake temp issues a lot with Injen in stop and go traffic...much more frequent on hot summer days and CEL. BMS was better temps, but I had idle problems and CEL. It even stalled at idle on a couple hot days. Ended up back with drop in K&N with zero issues 2 years running. This was with tune/intercooler/exhaust.

This thread almost makes me wanna scrap my plans to get an aftermarket intake and just buy scoops for my stock intake.

Good tips. MAF are very fragile.

It's really simple, for the MAF scalling to be correct with the BMS, you need a custom tune. The stock MAF scaling is for the stock intake. Not everyone has issues, but look around on the N55 specific groups and you will see that many do have issues, some as bad as random stalling but most just have weird idle issues, etc.

Also keep in mind that and aftermarket filter is just allowing more dirt into your engine.
