Hey guys, I'll be moving to Kansas City from Orlando, FL and wanting to see if any one the forum is in the area? Looking for some advice on housing. Not familiar with the area so dont know the bad from the good!

Oops! Didn't see I got responses on this thread! I'm driving up from Florida this Thursday. I signed a lease at city view apartments in north Kansas City, are you familiar with that area?

I'm only one month in on owning a bimmer, so I'm relatively new to the KC BMW scene myself (I just joined the KC club today!).

However, I have lived in the KC area since 2002, so I can at least help with that.

I live in the SW area of KC... Did you sign a lease up in North KC because it's close to where you'll be working? Because there are a lot of areas in the NKC area that can be a bit sketchy.

The Northland (north of the river) is one of the nicer parts of KC. There are

still a few shady areas but nothing terrible. Those apartments are off

armour/210 it's a cool little industrial area and you should have zero

problems there.


The general rule for areas to avoid:

Anything east of Troost (runs from bannister rd to independence ave) and west of 435

Ruskin Heights (my home) and Hickman Mills area - neighborhood around blue ridge blvd and longview road and the triangle between 470, 435, and 350

The northeast and almost anything along independence ave

KCK, that little loop between the river and 635 just west of where you live


Of course those are very broad boundaries

Thanks for the info! It's been a week and I def love my apartment complex and the location of it! I'll def mark those areas on the map and try to avoid as much as possible lol Getting used to the highways but liking it so far!

Hey join us on the face book page KCE9x...very informative page and great local people! I've been going to Baron since I moved last year, haven't gotten a chance to go out to the new BMW, it just opened a few months back

Sorry, forgot to mention, Facebook search engineered mechanic mike, he does amazing work! He's a BMW enthusiast himself, he's done some stuff for me recently for a fraction of what baron quoted me

i am also in KC, in Blue Springs, i joined the local social group on here that lorraine335is created but i am not on Facebook. do any of the Facebook groups do meet ups? i'd like to find some other BMW lovers in the area since i'm sure my friends all just think I'm a snob obsessed with my car haha
