2005 OBC MPG readout
I have done my first 60 miles in my 318d and I must admit I am not impressed by the OBC figures. I reset it when I filled it up. I have been doing mainly town driving in peak hours, however my previous car a MK4 Golf GT TDI (130) would always reach up to the late 30's and even 40 mpg. The 318d went upto 27.1 mpg and now its down to 25.9 mpg and I can't get it up from there ?...
Is there something wrong with the car or can I not trust the OBC ?. In my Golf with current diesel prices I used to get around 400 miles on a tank of £52 of diesel for town driving and 500 miles from motorway miles and somewhere in between for a mixture of the two. The 318d was £70 to fill up, how many miles should I expect, the guides suggest it should achieve at least 49mpg ? |

well from my full tank (£70 approx) I got 460 miles and there was still another 40 left I think. The first 200 miles were done in heavy town traffic when we had the bad weather where I rarely made it to 4th gear, to be honest I'm pleased with that considering the size/weight of the car in comparison to my Golf
