Hello fellow BMW Guys N Gals, looking for opinions on Tires for our cars.

On my 1M I am looking to keep summer tires on the car, especially since she spends winters in the garage.

I need to change the tires on my new to me 2004 330i ZHP sedan, which is my daily driver. I am wondering if anyone uses a good All Season tire on their cars for winter or if most use Summer tires in the summer and dedicated Winter tires for winter? And or All Season for summer and Dedicated snows for winter?

I don't know why I am having such a tough time deciding tires on this car, usually it's pretty straight forward for me. Maybe it's the Automatic trans. choice on this car? I don't see me driving this car that hard?

Thanks all

Hey Scott, I highly recommend having a dedicated set of summers and winters. All Seasons are a compromise and are not really good at anything. They arent all that great in the summer, and not all that great in the winter. Opposed to winters that are designed for cold weather, and snow that you may encounter. Same with summer tires, designed for warmth and sticking to the roads.

Thanks Parker, I know this stuff but this time for some reason I was just going in circles over the choices. Makes total sense I have this option for my STi but I have also tracked this car in the summer making the choice easy.

Summers it is, will wait for October for the winter set at this point.

A RWD daily should have snows in the winter. Dot.

I agree with the Dedicated Snows. But then the question about summer tires is:

how much performance is needed? The best rated tire at the moment is the Michelin Super Sport Max Performance tire. It's ~$200 per set more than say the best performing Ultra Performance summer tire (According to Tire Rack tests) the Bridgestone RE760 Sport.

Even if one doesn't drive 10-10ths often or at all, the superior steering response and overall driving experience of the best Summer tires brings out the best in your cars suspension but sometimes at the expense of harsher rides.

Making a poor choice in tires is one you have to live with for a few years.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Dedicated winters for sure.

I love the RE760s honestly. They're amazing for the price.

I have Super Sports on the front of mine...and will probably put them on the back for a matching set when my rears wear out (a bit of a mixed bag right now due to a blown tire on I-215...but that's another story)...of course if I keep my car that long.

I will say they're nice and quiet, grip like no other, but are a bit on the expensive side.

I can't really compare to others though as the only thing I've run on there have been the stock run flats and the vred ultrac sessanta. Those are about as inexpensive low profile tire as you can get...but they do a pretty good job overall for the price.

Ive been a fan of my Vreds. A bit on the noisy side, but they grip well and arent a million dollars. Would buy again.

Nice. Should I just jack up my car and remove rims and tires then take the rims there?

Nate, thanks for the review on the Super Sports. Everyone says they are great tires.
