fitting it this morning - any ideas on the previous question (well one of a shed load!)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Question on the amp, at the back it has a switch for low pass off and on, and dials to adjust for level, hi pass and low pass - WTF are these settings do i leave alone. God I am rubbish at this stuff! I've also connected all the cables up and worked out where they all go before I start, I note that the extension cable going into the amp has two bundles of grey white cables labelled front. I presume these are the front channels and the other ones rears? AND, at the front in the adapter harness there is a yellow to yellow connection, but nothing for the red? Again I guess this is fine. Must be for the other brands of car that the cable supports. |

Red will be permant live, yellow will be switched I guess.
Try both hooked up. Probably won't make a difference in teh BMW. If you are using the two channel amp make sure these are all off. |

Take off the silver trim, start on the passenger side with a blunt knife behind it and prize it off, then work your way down.
You can then pop the climate out. You can now get the surround off the nav computer and get to the screws. |

cheers mate, I'm starting to think this is beyond my very limited skill set, I prob would feel more comfortable if I had someone fit it all for me.
Any recommendations or any offers? I'll pay well Wonder if the BMW dealer would do it? but their labour costs are v.high. Wonder if there are any ICE centres with E90/2 experience. Thanks once again |

I am not sure if Guy had the Pro Nav/Telematics/Bluetooth or not I fitted a the THA555 amp and cable set yesterday, and to be honest fitting the cables in behind the radio is a bitch, I spent over an hour trying to get the headunit back in now my bluetooth and telematics are not working I am not sure if it is to do with the extension cable on the headunit or the lack of space and fitting the headunit back has pulled/damaged a wire If you can hold on I have taken picures of the dash with Pro Nav and heated seats, that may give you more idea what is involved before you commit yourself. |

tweeters installed! pleased with the job overall, however one slight issue with the drivers door install.
As I was talking off the door card, I pulled a tad hard and it completely popped out, thus unplugging the speaker connection (one of two blue connectors) I cannot remember where it went so I guessed and of course then plugged in the tweeter to the other connector. Would it be a problem mixing these up????? So I plugged the tweeter into the connector nearest to the seat when the doors opened. The radio sounded a bit louder using this connection. Please help |

The two connections on the speaker are in paralell so any one will do (but if you really want to know the tweeter plugs into the speaker connection nearest the tweeter)
Right then, I have now fixed the bluetooth/SOS problem, It sounds so simple when you know what the problem is but it is not mentioned and the cable is supposed to be plug and play. The headunit connector has two fibre optic connectors in it.............when you add the Blaupunkt cable in series with it, guess what it does not have the fibre optics in it, you have to remove the fibre optics from the the orig and move them over to the new connector that plugs into the headunit. Play spot the difference below and you will see what I mean |

Yeah you need to transfer the optical connector.
When putting the cable in, I pushed most of it down the side, next to the glove box, then the the rest of it is tucked behind the climate, there is not enough room to get it behind the radio/nav itself. |

That will teach me to use the manufactures instructions and not yours Guy
The cable is a real pain when you have the Pro Nav, I think you were lucky as the cables drop down behind the climate panel, the double height headunit takes up a lot of space, I pushed the orig connector to the right, had to remove some cable clamps at the bottom & back to improve the space available for the wiring to sit it at the bottom and routed them all so that they should sit well when the headunit is pushed back in, then you just pray as you can't see and you dont want to squash anything. I have done a few installs before and am not scared of ripping a car apart and it took me 5 hours to fit the THA555 amp in the boot, I have got an E93 and the boot is a challenge in itself Good info Guy, the THA555 and tweeters add a new dimension to the sound, I will give it some time and see if i want to change the speakers |

Cheers Crimson - how does it sound? good?
I notice that the sound has improved with the L7 tweeters and no amp as yet OK so I am still scared of adding the amp - as Gizze the master states I have to remove the trim on the dash to remove the climate. How easy was this as there is NO gap to get a screwdriver behind etc etc and I presume the headunit is the part with the 8 buttons on it and disc drives. Good man - thanks for your help. |

You do need to have balls to get the trim off, I used an old credit card folded in half, squashed flat and pushed between the trim at the fold on the passenger side, then inserted a wide flat blade screwdriver into the middle of the credit card and used that as leverage (the screwdriver has a credit card on each side to protect the trim.
Once in starts to move its ok, it's held on like the trim on the door panels. Working on a basic post now which may help you a bit more. The tweeters are good which has meant I have turned the treble down a few notches, the amp adds more depth and warmth to the sound, I can't think of a better way to describe it, Oh and its louder too, I only have one CD in the car I need to try a few more |

I ran the amp directly from the battery, I did not use the extra red/yellow/black connectors, infact I cut them off where the two wires went into the crimp on the connector as it is just more stuff to fit behind the headunit when you put it back.
It does depend on how you are going to power the amp though |
