Angry AP Tuning damaged my rims. Blames me.

UPDATE 8/14/23: They sent their lawyer after me claiming defamation and demanding I remove all posts/reviews. "Substantial truth” is an absolute defense to defamation. Nothing I said was false or incorrect. I spoke 100% facts and 100% truth.

I'd advise you to review your client's surveillance footage before we discuss this further.

AP Tuning in Lebanon, PA damaged 3 of my 4 one year only rims that are over $2,100 MSRP for ONE wheel. Took the car in for lowering springs install and alignment.

I contacted them letting them know that I understand accidents happen and it wasn't done on purpose, but they still responded to telling me the damage was there when I brought the car in. Wow! Unreal!

I of course also posted what happened on their Facebook and Instagram and they blocked me. Talk about admitting guilt without actually admitting guilt, right?

I've already posted it on other social media channels as well as Google. I've also opened cases with BBB, attorney general and FTC. Next is call my lawyer to get the ball rolling on small claims court...

All they have to do is the right thing. Unbelievable...

I am sure they did it but unless you have photographs of when you dropped it off(preferably that shows you are in their driveway) and the damage when you picked it up(again photos at their place of business) I am not sure how you can 'prove' they did it. I am sure they did. Sucks having to take pictures of your car before and after going to a shop but I think that is the only way to prove it to them.

I assume the damage is too small to pick up on their security cameras?

Pics of the damage?

They have to have an idiot there working who damages rims just taking them off and back on. I can see if they were putting tires on etc.

For what it is worth going to social media is 100% the way to get a company to NOT help you. It is kind of like ambushing them. Going in person, asking to speak to the manager and or owner would likely get you the best help. Granted they can tell you to go pound dand but starting with social media is not the way to get help.
I gave them a chance to help first. Then they told me it was there when I brought it in. I went social media AFTER they did that bs. Social media is 1 way to get action. It's 2023. Read again. I did not start with social media.

Yeah sorry I reread and edited.

Going sorched earth on social media is the way when all else fails. I agree. Find every possible place to leave reviews.

If you gave links you never know who also might write a similar negative review

How'd you pay for the install/alignment work...sounds like a charge back to me, lol. I had a similar yet different experience with a body shop and after 3 weeks of back and fourth, I was reimbursed for the damages, after social media posts, Google reviews and the streets/local car community (word of mouth)...

Thanks for letting us know, shops that do this deserves to be called out and as such I've left a bad review as well. I wish your small claims court goes well.

They keep blocking me on social media. Their latest reply was extra ridiculous.

"you have already escalated this beyond any cordial resolution. At this point we will have no further direct contact with you and our lawyer will contact you."

No, I first gave you the opportunity to do the right thing & you blamed me & told me to F off. THEN I did what I had to do. In addition to you ruining my expensive 1 year only wheels, you also lowered the value of my car as a whole.

Wouldn't surprise me if their lawyer comment was just to scare me off LOL. Won't work!

I'm going to be the biggest thorn in their side ever.

Dang that sucks. I hate dealing with these incompetent nincompoops then having to go through all the hoops of a company to get any resolve. Just finished going through it for like 6 months with Discount Tire but finally won.

Lots of garbage people out there, sadly. I don't even want to take my cars anywhere anymore for anything.

When I went to a new BMW speed shop back in June, part of the check in procedure involved them taking numerous photos of my car and wheels specifically to avoid this kind of mess. I was surprised that such a small shop did this but good for them. I now do the same thing whenever I go to a shop and document my own photos. Hope this works out for you.

How the hell does that happen during a spring install? Even if they curbed during test drive, how do you nick the 3rd wheel?

Paying a lawyer seems so stupid on their part, just pay to have all the wheels properly refinished to look like new.
