Looks like I'll be there as well. Still debating between the MZ4 Coupe or the WRX, most likely the MZ4 Coupe since I don't trust the brakes on the WRX.

Doing tech inspection today. Looks like I need pads on the M - especially if we're running Star Mazda.

That is for the club race only, not the school.

No way I'm going to drop $200+ on pads for 3-4 session on the track. I'll just go easy out there.

Did that with Speedventures CCW, that back straight is very rough on the brakes... I would be shocked if the non-racers did that config.

So the school will run with bus-stop? Are they going to cone off the back-straight between sessions or just trust that the yellow-shirts will know what to do with their students?

All I is stayin' is, IFFY BRAKES is the last thing I will take to the track. Beg, cajole, rob, STEAL if you have to, get some pads in there before you go. I know you know your car much better than I do...but take it from me, as someone who's suffered just about EVERY kind of brake failure imaginable at Buttonwillow...Don't go to the track if you don't have 100% confidence in your brakes, not even if you can "take it easy for a few laps."

Just my not so humble opinion.

You'll get a kick outta this...Back in 2001..I limped home in my Audi S4 avant, from Thunderhill, with NO front brakes...the pad was totally gone..so was the rotor..oops...had to ebrake to come to a complete stop...did a lot of gear deceleration. Have you ever tried to drive I70 from Vacaville to the 680 split with no brakes? How about down 680 into San Jose with no brakes.

Haven't tried that route, but I did have to drive home to Lala land from Buttonwillow with NO REAR BRAKES.

They're probably going to cone it off.

The brakes aren't "iffy", they just got overheated from Buttonwillow last time. There is tons of pad, but you just can't stab it and late brake like you can when the pads are in good condition. Fluid is fresh and the rotors are in good shape.

I'll ask around and see if anyone has an extra set of front stock pads to borrow for the weekend, but its getting cut close now.

So I sent an email out asking for some pads, and within 10 minutes I had about 4 sets to choose from. I'm going to pick up some nearly new HT10's tomorrow night.
