Buttonwillow #13 CW - June 5th/6th $99
NCRC will be at BW on the weekend of June 5th and 6th. Only $99/day. That is great pricing and a weekend event. I have run with these guys at Laguna and they are a good group. Anyone else going? Saturday is filling up...

I've never ran with NCRC before but all i've heard are good things. It says "$99 for OT or race or enduro", so how much is the point-by group? And if i dont sign up for their membership, how much extra per event is it?

Having a more efficient cooling system will drop your oil temps as well, probably more so then just having an add on oil cooler alone. |

Absolutely. Pay close attention in the driver's meeting, and don't be afraid to ask if you have any questions about protocol/procedures. Buttonwillow is a great track to learn on (medium-speed and nothing to hit except the pit wall).
If it's your first time, try to find an 'advanced' driver to ride with you for some coaching. |

no.
I'll tell you all the reasons why at the autocross. Edit: Actually... I wanna pull back my "no" to a "maybe". It goes to a maybe if and only if there is a driving instructor in every car in your run group. Which, I highly doubt is included in the bare bones price. Yes, pending you are setup with an instructor. NCRC runs a very clean and professional operation. http://www.ncracing.org/rules.php
As a novice driving instruction is included at no cost. This event is now sold out, aside from the open run group on Sunday. |

I haven't been out with NCRC since Thunderhill in 2007. I've signed up for the open group that Sunday to use as a test day for the club race the following weekend.

1/ Have an instructor in every novice car and let them run in a "regular" group with a bunch of other drivers with no instructor/more experienced. 2/ Have a Driving School where there is only a few instructors for the group but where drivers goes through classrooms ( 3 for us ), on-track exercises and where the FULL group is made-up of novices only. For many years, like most other clubs we did #1 and frankly the main reason was economics ( $) It is way to expensive to dedicate a run group exclusively for a few ( usually between 5 to 10) novices and therefore a club has no choice but to mix them on the track with more experienced drivers That create 2 sets of problem: Novices have a lot more pressure and have to worry about more experienced drivers when at the same time they need to learn the basics such as flags, passing, line, etc. The more experienced drivers have to deal with drivers that have never been on track before with all the resulting issues such as bottlenecking, unsafe line/passing, etc. Furthermore we believe that to really enjoy the benefit of 1-to-1 instruction, a driver need to already have some minimum skills. An instructor can't learn the flags or passing rule for you. And what is the point of teaching trail-braking to a driver that have no idea where he is on the track? If you really think about it, you will realize that all professional driving schools, being SB or others, use #2. One of the reason we changed our business model (pricing) was to make our event so affordable that we could have enough novices for them to have their own group and driving school. It has worked very well, our driving school is always sold-out ( max of 25 cars) and we get a lot of positive comments on our formula. Luc. NCRC |
