Went to the drag strip last night... pics and video!

So I decided to go to the drag strip last night to test out my newly installed intakes, my best time before the intakes was 12.89 on map 5 in my jb3. After the DCI I set the jb3 to map 7 and I could not get better than 12.81, my 60' sucked. I only got to run 3 times so I couldn't play with the settings as much as I wanted. I'm planning on going back Wednesday. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to launch the car right? I'll post some pics in a couple of hours along with my time slip. There were some sick cars last night thought....

my car, the only bimmer there, so lonely...

a couple GTRs, they both did mid 10s

a couple of dragsters

my time slip. Any suggestions? how can i do a better 60'?

here is a video:

They are summer tires, same size as stock sports package. I have a 335i auto. I just can't belive I got a 12.81, I was hoping for a 12.6 or 12.7 what are the correct settings to launch this car?
Those wheels are ridiculous! They do look better in person.

Manual Mode, 2nd gear start, make sure you don't hit the kickdown at launch.

Brake boost to 2400ish (it might be lower if the conditions are bad/your tires aren't great) and take off. Shift at 6700ish from 2nd to 3rd and 6400-6500 3rd to 4th.

how well do you think you're auto will hold up after this much abuse? You go regularly as far as I can tell.

this was the second time I've gone since I got the car, I only go when I put something new to see if there was any improvement, plus I think that its good to have some hard evidence for the public to base their decisions on which parts they should buy.

The thing is a friend of mine has the same parts as I do and he was able to do a 12.6 so I have to try again at at least match his time. Im using BF Goodrich g-force T/A KDW tires.

I would shut traction control off all the way to limit an intervention. A small amount of wheel spin is the fastest way down the track.

I hear for the auto's Brake boost 2nd gear, launch without kick down.

Apply kick down once you are in the upper RPM of 2nd gear.

Terry answered my e-mail and this is what he said:

"Read up on 2nd gear launches. Map 7 is OK if you are on race gas. For 93 octane you'd use map 5. Upgrade to the JB4 its much better.

Best,
T"

i agree with jb4 being good still have to wait till the 15th to go to the strip with it but the features on it make it worth the money alone
