Downshift blips are not as aggressive in XHP v1.1 vs v1.2, but in my opinion v1.2 was over exaggerated and far to clunky/jerky in many situations. v1.2 was a downgrade in almost every aspect of drive-ability as far as I am concerned. It will be interesting to test v1.2 w/ the latest MHD OTS map to see if any of that was to be blamed on the DME code. There are reasons I chose the Stage 3 calibration over 1/2, but there are things I wish it did not do. When in D for example I'd still like Stage 3 to start off in 2nd gear most of the time. I don't appreciate that final downshift into 1st most of the time when in stop and go traffic. I've noticed that even with XHP if you peg the pedal to the floor - engaging "kickdown", asking for an upshift via a paddle does not induce one. |

So you think v1.1 is better ?
Other than the jerk forward on downshift - anything else bad ? Quote:

I was at the track 2 weeks ago and i was getting hard shifts from 3 to 4 under WOT.
also was having some difficulty downshifting in braking zones. where i needed to get down to 2nd or 3rd, it would change on the LED display but then not actually downshift, or it would double shift, guessing i was low in the rpms so it was in the process of downshifting but the display has not yet changed so then it would do 1 auto and then add mine on top of it so then im just below redline and then get limited when i get back on throttle. found S mode better that day for the track. looking forward to updates 335d specifically. |

Stage 2 might be a better flash for you, as its described by XHP as "The sport setup is made for people wanting the most from their transmission on street use" you mention the car upsetting you in traffic and on the street so maybe that flash would better suit your application? |

Is there a flash that will improve gas mileage? Thanks!

Funny! Seriously though, if there us a difference between the two it would be nice to know. I understand that xhp stage 2 is the best for street applications and was wondering if there was an optimized flash that happened to increase gas mileage as I commute 63 miles rt daily m-f.

I'd have to double check the descriptions but one of the reasons I think I went with stage 3 was b/c it eliminated the auto upshift in M mode. Although, at the end of the day it is an automatic trans with 3 modes - D/S/M. I should be able to have comfort in D and "stage 3 performance" in M. I guess that is where custom tuning will come in. |

This, since each stage is progressively more expensive, stage 3 should include stage 2 and 1 and then you could try them out, not like you can use more than one at a time and might stop the stage 3 complaints is people tried stage 2 and liked it, but no way I am paying more for a lesser stage.

This is stupidly complicated. Where do I buy these things I've never heard of? It sounds like I need a snake's nest worth of cables and half a dozen separate programs. WTF...someone make a package that JUST WORKS please. Crap this is intimidating. I don't have time to get a degree in BMW hacking. I already work full time, lol.

With the latest MHD update (where mhd announced they have been working with xhp etc) - anyone experienced a much quieter throttle blip in M since flashing with the latest from mhd ?
Especially those on v1.2 stage with a custom MHD map. |
