Yes. Currently coordinating with a gentleman who deals em out. Looking for a later production n52. He has a low mileage n52 out of an 06 330, but I am holding out for the engine with the redesigned head. Sold my e23, so I'm golden now. Just being picky... rightfully so.

ordered an n52 with 70k miles
aluminum JB flywheel metallic sachs clutch Turner solid engine and transmission mounts should be getting started around the 15th. after this, I'll hit up Bob and get those injectors ordered along with a meth kit. Once all that is in his possession, I'm gonna try to schedule something with him so he can add those things and the n54 manifold Biginboca hooked me up with then I'll ship the car to him and let him work his magic-

Do you guys know what the main difference is on this new ver 3 kit, from our previous version 2, with the vortech v-3 si kit?
New one: ESS N52 G1 Supercharger System (Gen.3)

It seems like they moved to in-house supercharger. It has their logo, etc. I can't find anything regarding the unit itself. Edit: I think they may have went with procharger instead of vortech. New one seems to exit to the side, while old one was to the front. Old one: New one Last edited by W37V; 12-11-2019 at 06:42 AM.. |

Instead of swapping hardware I wish they would address their software issues.
Can’t use headers. Can’t use throttle while braking (throttle blip downshift). Plus every DIY install I’ve seen on this forum there are big battles with tuning. And ESS is not showing any signs of addressing these issues, and instead give us a compressor update lol From a tuning standpoint the kit just seems really unsorted. If they could get some of the tuning issues addressed I would possibly be a customer, but not as it stands.

TBH, I think this kit would be adequate for over 90% of people. Now, if they would only support milvs, that would be a jackpot. |

Back when I bought the kit 2 years ago, I tell them this issue and send them this video, they said it's a feature for safety. ;/ (I got it sorted by messing with the brake signal.... otherwise my manual car would be useless without the ability to blip throttle during downshift. )

Also, I never go down in fluid in the SC except for a trace of red fluid in the seat of the pressure valve screw. Are you finding that you go through fluid in your 7.5k intervals?
Thanks, and happy Friday!

I think part of the issue with the headers was the O2 feedback reading. Hassmachine fixed it by using the delay from the S54's MSS70 (related to our MSV70, and MSV80 DMES) which has more tubular exhaust manifolds. (I mean, I did think about it, as something similar was brought up for the Z4M and MSV70 ECU differences....) Anyhow, that was the issue with the header situation. The issue with no left foot brake seems more peculiar. The MAFLESS version of the 328i is sold in Europe where ESS is based, why did they have the force the car into semi limp more to get "ALFA N" and lose that function?

Thanks, papas.
Waiting on this JB flywheel- shouldve sent directly from the manufacturer- so no tracking number from ECS.🥺 If I can get the car into the shop this Monday- I could have it back Friday. But it may extend into the new year, fml. Anyone know if the n52n came with a crush style head gasket like the early n52b30? So the rundown: Going to reseal the oil pan since the swap demands it because of the engine being from an AT car. Oil filter housing gasket replacement. Milvs transfer from original engine to the replacement, so new VCG as well. While the trans is out, gonna do that risky transmission flush since it's at 120k miles. (anyone have any supporting evidence on why I should or shouldnt? Figure I'd do it for the sake of doing it with the new clutch and flywheel in the mix... if so- what fluid should I go with?) I will probably ask for a new football gasket too. Going to make sure the old engine gives up the ECS sensor, VANOS, and a couple other misc. sensors are moved since they only have ~50k miles. Homeboy mentioned that the timing chain cog is better on the early n52. Any thoughts?

Manual? Trans flush? Don't worry about anything happening. It's only automatics that FLUSHES are a problem. Drain-and-fills will NEVER give you issues unless you mess up the job, or a problem already existed. Double check this but a lotta guys run Redline ATF D6 (maybe D4 I forget) for manuals. I personally run Redline MTL but some guys complain it's too thick for colder climates. And yeah snag as many sensors as you can, they're not cheap from BMW.

God I know you guys like your n52 but after all is said and done you will still be slower than a stock n54 and you will have dropped 8k+

Nothing to worry about at all with the 6MT; it's a Getrag, and there's nothing fancy going on in there. I'd use Pentosin or Ravenol fluids. With the Getrag, simply drain from the drain plug, seal, and fill into the fill hole until fluid starts overflowing. Piece of cake. I bought my 328 with a bad clutch so I had to get in'ere in the first month of ownership.

My little N52 is as much fun to drive as my Corvette as they differ so much in how the power comes on. Kind of reminds me of my old E46 M3. Plus I never really had the opportunity to work on a BMW before this car. Since owning it, every bit of work aside from the tune was done by me and I enjoy learning new things.
