ISTA/P
When I load up ISTA/P, create new session, select ISTA/P server automatically, it’s not showing any items to connect too? , I’m assuming I should see the cable here? , what am I missing?
My cable works for ISTA /D and inpa etc..... |

For ISTA P you need an emulator for use with DCAN. Use ISTA Loader.

Got it working, I needed to click on the dcan emulator before opening ISTA/p.
I was trying to get my alpine retrofit kit coded, but after loading up the conversions as per instruction there is no Alpine retrofit option! Last edited by Bmw330; 03-23-2019 at 10:15 AM.. |

676 will drop all radio or idrive outputs to 5 volt differential
levels so you would loose the rear seats as the volume would be cut in half. I remember there being two version of this kit back in the days one required coding one did not. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ighlight=graph |

What year is the car?
Cars made before 3/07 in the US use the K can bus it allows you do more with a K/D can cable. Also you don't need to use Ista p to do the Hi Fi conversion you can use NCSexpert. Just add option 676. to the VO and default code the Radio if it is idrive more modules have to be default coded. Last edited by ctuna; 03-24-2019 at 05:21 PM.. |

It’s a 2011 car (uk).
I did code last night to in ncs expert to the following ... Run NCSexpert Click "file" and select "load profile" and select "expertmode" Click "VIN/ZCS/FA Click "ZCS/FA f. ECU Select chassis type "e89" On choose ECU select "CAS" After your vin is shown select "enter FA" Select chassis type "e89" Ensure VIN shown is correct and select "OK" Enter $676 and then select "add" Then scroll down and select "£676" and select "OK" Then select "Back button" Then select "F4 Process ECU" Then select from drop down list "CAS" Then select "F2 Change Job" Then select "FA_WRITE" and click "OK" Ensure CAS is shown on "Get Coded" and FA_WRITE shown on "JOB NAME" Select "F3 Execute Job" All seemed to work, are there any modules missing or should that above do it? |

I only did what was above, could you let me know what else needed doing?
(Feel free to modify the text above to confirm correct steps, which I’m sure would be useful for anyone adding the alpine kit) It’s an I-Drive. Last edited by Bmw330; 03-25-2019 at 11:18 AM.. |

You also need to:
Add 676 to the NFRM FA. Do exactly the same but do: Then select from drop down list "NFRM" (or FRM whatever you have) Instead of: Then select from drop down list "CAS" Then do the same.... Then select from drop down list "RAD2" (RAD2 is for the head unit for non idrive cars. Then change job to sg_coderien The execute the job. That will code the rad2 to the default settings based on your VO. |

It appears the following need updating too with SG_CODIEREN, CHOST/CAPPL/CGATE/CAUDI/CTUNE
This is the first try I’ve had at coding with ncs, where do you find these?, I’d like to make a step by step written guide so its easy to follow!. Thanks for your help |

If you followed one of the simpler coding tutorials to do something
like setup digital v or open the close the windows with the keyfob you would encounter the list of modules in your car. When you setup the profile for coding and read the car its populates the program/profile with the modules it reads from your car. You can also do a check on the hardware modules in your car by reading them with functional jobs in Inpa. diagnostic manual ista/inpa https://bimmerprofs.com/diagnostics-inpa-part-1/ https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...xo19teM9vkTF-C https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...7x8H3pN8h1fMuF https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-P-actually-do This next one seems kind of old http://codinge90.com/ What you have done in the last entry's is to change the VO which stores the change you want in the CAS and NFRM(I think) now to finalize the change it needs to go into the modules where the changes actually take place. Default coding. 1. Load NCSExpert. 2. Load Profile and select Expertmode 3. F1 (VIN/ZCS/FA) 4. F3 (ZCS/FA f .ECU) 5. Choose E89 (for the E9X) 6. Select CAS 7. F6 (BACK) 8. F4 (Process ECU) (at this point the list should show up) 9. Select the Module I want to Revert back to Stock. 10. F2->Choose "SG_Codieren->ok 11. F3->to start coding the ecu with factory settings according to the vehicle Repeat for each module. Depending on your download the newer profiles may only have manipulation or factory profiles . Factory is the one that causes data to be read from the CAS and NFRM modules rather than a coding file as described in the coding process. Last edited by ctuna; 03-27-2019 at 07:32 AM.. |

When I set up the coding I do get a list of about 25 modules, none are these though....
CHOST/CAPPL/CGATE/CAUDI/CTUNE I get stuff like media, CIC, dwas, pdc etc, so I was just wondering if my car actually had these modules as stated above, or if they are buried deeper elsewhere.... Last edited by Bmw330; 03-27-2019 at 07:37 AM.. |

run inpa functional jobs as described in the link to get
a list of installed hardware modules and descriptions. Sorry no idrive expert here but according to the people that have done this some variation of the list of modules from the thread on going to 676 should pop up in the indicated ECU list. The idrive changed from cic to ccc at some point in the US there may be other variations in Europe. You might also try the idrive sub forum. |
