Ok thanks for your help!.

There seems to be lots of discussions regarding for example the alpine audio retrofit coding but no definitive instructions to code it!

So on the instructions, just to clarify, step 8, should that show CHOST/CAPPL/CGATE/CAUDI/CTUNE?
And when you say revert to stock in step 9, I’m assuming that’s not revert to original settings but to code in 676 into all the relevant modules?

Default coding.
1. Load NCSExpert.
2. Load Profile and select Expertmode
3. F1 (VIN/ZCS/FA)
4. F3 (ZCS/FA f .ECU)
5. Choose E89 (for the E9X)
6. Select CAS
7. F6 (BACK)
8. F4 (Process ECU) (at this point the list should show up)
9. Select the Module I want to Revert back to Stock.
10. F2->Choose "SG_Codieren->ok
11. F3->to start coding the ecu with factory settings according to the vehicle

Stock coding = VO coding which means in this case it takes
the parameters from option 676(now stored in the CAS and NFRM) you then have
to write them to the modules where the 676 options are used.
Why would you do this and not regular coding ? Because there may be too
many parameters to write and the syntax will be correct for each module using
the VO programming method.
In normal coding which does not alter the VO your read the data from the
module into a TRC file alter a few parameters and write it back to the same module.

Use functional jobs in Inpa to read out the modules your car see's
as described in the bimmerprofs link.

https://bimmerprofs.com/diagnostics-inpa-part-1/

It will display hardware and software versions.

CHOST/CAPPL/CGATE/CAUDI/CTUNE? as far as I know these should be displayed
when the list of available modules to be coded is read.
What do you have that seems like it might be related to the idrive.
Which version of the idrive do you have?

I have the following modules that come up in the ‘get coded’ list in NCS,

KOMBI
ECALL
MEDIA
DWAS
DWAI
IHK
PDC
NFRM
DSC
EKP
CIC
2JBBF
63DMO
RLS
FZD
ABG
FAS
FAGB
BFS
BFGB
EGS
EPS
CAS
CID
ZBE

Although as far as I can see only CAS, FRM and NFRM show up when you click ‘back’

Functional jobs from Inpa the process I described gives you more info about
the hardware and software revisions of each module.
That list will be useful for others that understand which version
of idrive you have.

You might try doing just he CIC for now.

I’m assuming it’s maybe only CIC that’s available in my case? I’ve found a post on another page that the chap can’t find the CHOST etc so they have only coded CIC, although appears it’s not done much....

Also is it possible to remove the VO after you’ve added it in? (Ie if you wanted to revert it back to original). Do you have that method? ....thanks for your help.

Just do Process_Car with a blank.man file after changing the VO. That'll code everything to default with how a 676 equipped car should be.

This one shows the files list for the mentioned list also .
I thought some of the files showed up for the newer idrive but maybe not.

If you default code the whole car be sure the battery is fully charged before
you start.

It appears CHOST etc may only be for CCC I-Drive, not CIC. So it could be only CIC module that requires the update for CIC I-Drive.

Possibly coding full car is the only option to ensure it’s coded completely, any ideas how long this normally takes? I’m assuming long enough to need a charger plugged in?

Normaly this is not suggested.
It would be good if you could pick out the modules that
seem likely to be related to the entertainment system.

what are these
FAGB
BFS
BFGB
EGS
63DMO

cic
and media
maybe esys call.

I have no idea what they are, there are a few lists online but the only ones I can find with any info on it is BFS- related to seats, and EGS- electronic transmission control unit
