Braking issue!
Hey guys.
2013 335i x-drive here. After changing my brake pads and rotors I noticed that when rolling to a stop and tapping on the brake peddle the car steering wheel goes to the right like an inch or two and then goes back in place. I also noticed when braking hard my car swerves all over the place. Not sure if the three are related or not. I have changed my brakes before so I don't think that has anything to do with it but I don't know what the issue could be and where to start looking. Anyone experience the same thing and have any solutions? Thanks so much! |

Did you clean the rotors after installation?
If you had some grease/oil remaining on the rotor, it will turn into a sticky mess and will change the friction of the rotor. One rotor grabbing and the other not will then pull in the direction of the 'grabby' rotor. Since the problem started when you changed the brakes, there's something amiss there. Take it back apart, check everything, then put it back together and test again. |

Drive normally, pull over, and carefully feel the brake rotors, you'll probably find that one is very much hotter than the others. Note, fronts are normally hotter than the rears.

Thinking about it, if the OP didn't squarely seat one of the caliper pistons, it could get one caliper to stick "closed", this heating up one side of the front brake system. That would lead to the brake overheating and be less effective at stopping. So the brake opposite the offset in direction should be the brake he looks at for an overheated rotor. But if he has issues as described without a long drive (i.e. cold brakes), then I'd think a sticking caliper is not the problem. I'd vote for a contaminated pad that needs to get cleared by use. |

I would go back and review your work. The three things that come to mind are did you clean the rotors, tighten bolts on calipers and bleed the lines?

Also always clean the hubs before fitting brake discs
