Disappointed with 323i sound system

Hi,
It's been a week since I picked up my car. So far so good but my front speaker has a pop/crack sound at medium volume. I'm not going all the way up but say around 70%. I'm not sure if this normal or not I'm thinking of taking to dealer.

And all you 323i owner, how satisfied are you with the sound quality?

Brand new? Should be covered by warranty.

+1 bring it in...Sounds like a loose wire or something. I had a 323 as a loaner a little while back, and yah the system brought me back to the E36 days i.e. tinny sound, lots of treble, no deep bass.

do a speaker upgrade. Its not that difficult in the the car. Even if somethings wrong, the stock 323 system is pretty horrendous at best.

So I went and enabled volume level using http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=313938
It seems I'm close to the full level of the speakers therefore these distortions are normal I suppose. I will take it to my dealer when I pickup something for my giftcard.

I've searched my trunk and I didn't find any modules in left side. I suppose my model doesn't come with amp in the back. This means there is no 4 channel wires in the back . I'm thinking of getting Infinity reference 4012i DIY. Not sure how much HU can power. A friend of mine adviced me to get PDX-5 but it seems I have to fully re-write in that case.

How did you 323i owners upgrade your sound?

Just to confirm, the stock amp is under where this aftermarket amp sits. Is that where you were looking?

So the 323's don't get the under seat subs (which are nothing worth listening to)? I've got a 12" sub in mine and it really helped it out.

I don't know.. My sound system is pretty damn good, when using the Aux output and proper source to play music.
The 323i does come with under seat subs, it's possible to get some crazy low end bass. The only thing the 323i does not have are the extra tweeters.
My car has the basic package too.

I agree with Dimsum, I've tested my sound system on aux, mp3, ipod, cd, and everything else and it works perfectly ... I love it lol ... I would get really annoyed to hear pops and cracks

ya that isnt normal so definitely bring it in lol why fix it urself ...

Could be as simple as a blown speaker...

I don't think the speaker is blown since it's fine at normal volume. When I increase it close to max then I hear this noise. TBH I don't think the max is that loud. I'll check up with dealer since it's under warranty.

I don't like the quality of the high frequency on these speakers. I'll probably change it to Infinity. And add amp to sub. This way the 4 speakers will have 25 rms watts each. I think this should be enough for now.

u think so??....compared to most stock systems out there...i think non-logic 7 systems in the 335s are pretty decent sounding..all my friends can't believe its standard equipment.......i love how it is and don't think i'd need to upgrade....it could do with just a lil more bass though...

Speaking of sound systems, does an L7 amp directly replace a non-L7 amp? Any benefit? I have a 325i with the professional radio (probably the one they all come with), with the under-seat subwoofers.
