Calgary Members Thread
Hi All,
I went searching and wanted to join a Calgary area members forum for Bimmer owners and didn't find out. Saw the Calgary meet up posts but not a members thread so I thought if there are enough of us, we might as well have our own posts to talk about tips and info that we see within the Calgary area. Thanks! |

Welcome to the forum Canada Dude
There are probably 6 or 8 locals who frequent the forum, and several others (Edmonton & Sask) who hang out with us. Tell us about what you ordered? Details (colour, AT/MT, options, and most importantly, expected delivery date)?

I'm so broke now
Thanks !
I just ordered a 335xi, SG, black dakota, AT, fully loaded except for Navi. My expected delivery date is probably May'ish. Oh well... the wait I finally decided not to get the Navi. Couldn't find anyone that was strongly for it. Cheers! Quote:

The 4 things you want are: 1/ Sports pkg with 18" wheels (else you won't get an oil cooler) 2/ Nav 3/ PDC *this I don't have and wish to gawd I did* 4/ 6FL option (USB/iPod port) BTW .... if you only ordered in the past few weeks (and you don't yet have a build date) there's no way in the world you'll have your car delivered to Calgary before the end of May ....

change my options?
Quote:
I'm not sure if I want to buy a whole set of rims and tires on top of the $2K option. Nav: what's the reason why you put it so high on your list? PDC: yup, got that. Thanks, I thought perhaps that was a waste of money, good thing to hear that it's a good thing to have. 6FL: If you mean the premium sound, then yes, I got that too. It includes the USB/iPod. |

In addition, should you ever want to add a tune to your car *especially a Dinan flash*, you will need an oil cooler (which will cost you close to $2K + 6-10hrs shop time to install). And finally, and your CA likely didn't mention this, no sport pkg / 18" wheels with the Xi means your top speed will be limited to 135mph (rather than the 155mph with the sport pkg/18" wheels)

Sports Package?
Quote:
Also if I don't ever plan to add any tuning to the car, is it still worth it? Also, I would still have to splurge to get 4 more rims with all seasons, probably about $4K? And I am not sure when I would ever want to go over 135mph. If I ever plan to take the car to the race track then yup, you are right, I should get the sports package. What about the sport seats, really that worth it? BTW: thanks for trying to help me understand all this stuff. Really appreciate it. |

benyl's service comment is pretty common in Calgary . Till now both dealerships were tiny and there were not enough service bays to literally serve the city.
Since Calgary BMW expansion they hope to eliminate the problem over the next few months and get back to normal business. The new dealership is f'in huge and has 2x or 3x more bays, plus all the PDI will in the future be done at the old dealership to allow even more cars into the new one for service. So in short they are trying to improve things, it is slow, but I bet in 6 months things will be alot better. |

North Service is the suxors. But I can't bring myself to drive all the way south (I am 5 minutes from Gallery).
The sport seats are worth it.

The sport seats is well worth it IMHO. I try both and there is no way I would buy my 335i without the sport package.

Yeah, I'd bitch, since you signed the deal and not rec'd the car yet the deal is not done.
I have signed my deal several times but no car, no contract completion. It is not binding until the contract is fulfulled, now if you have your car, that might be a diff. story. Do you have your car yet? |

ok, so the deal is this. I will get whatever lowest rate is available at the time of delivery of the car. The current promotion of 2.0% is valid until June 30, so I should be clear to get the 2.0% unless BMW Canada pulls a rabbit out of the hat and cancels the deal earlier but so far there are no indications of that. The promotion is valid until June 30.
Though I am a little worried, this is all verbal from them. Has anyone seen that BMW Canada promotions and the wording or terms and conditions of the promotions ? |

Where'd that rabbit go??
Your not going to find any term or conditions. Calgary BMW have treated me right and BMW Gallery better do the same, they are the same company. Have some faith, BMWCA sales are down 25% over last year, I bet the promo will last till then or longer till they see an up tic in business. |
