hey guys, I'm totally new to the BMW's and am in the process of looking at a 128/135i. I know this is a E90 forum but since these are their little brothers, I though I would get some suggestions
I'm sort of in between Gallery and Calgary BMW so it doesn't matter which location I'm going to but in your opinions, which is the better dealer for purchasing? Also, how good are negotiations for a lease vehicle? Looking at 39 month lease. I have been reading the other threads and most easterns are able to get around a 4% discount off of MSRP. Is that pretty realistic in Calgary? Or is lack of negotiations just a tactic? Problem is that I really want this car and it's by far my number one choice. But if they are going to low ball me on the trade or the MSRP/Options, then I am prepared to walk. Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

Are there any trustworthy independent shops for an oil change in Calgary? What's the ballpark price that they charge for an oil change? I am planning a roadtrip from Toronto to Vancouver and back soon and the majority of my stay would be in Calgary.

First, welcome ! And don't worry, we were all newbies at one time. I am still a newbie, just joined last month because I got myself a bimmer.
Don't be afraid to ask any questions here. I had problems at Gallery, they wouldn't budge from the MSRP so I just went down to Calgary and was treated better. If you know somone else buying a car, you should try to go together, more buying power (I think). Let us know how it went though, I'm curious to see if 4% is really a benchmark. good luck! Quote:

Wouldn't your oil changes be included if you bought the car from Canada? Wasn't sure if the 05's had that service. If so, you should book your appointment VERY early as they both tend to have a huge back log. If location doesn't matter I strongly suggest the one in the SOUTH as they have more bays and your car is kept inside.

Given that they are offereing cash back these days, it might be tougher working a better deal unless the car was on the lot and you were ready to buy it now, you know the sales deal... |

I won't be seriously shopping until mid-May when things settle down at work so I'm doing some preliminary leg work now. I will definitely keep your guys updated. Hopefully there's nothing too horrible to say about either dealerships, it's always difficult to buy a car and even harder in Calgary where money is flowing out of rocks. |

Thought I should post it here and hopefully turn this thread into a sticky & Official
Upcoming informal meet, this coming Saturday, June 21st, at the Crowfoot Mall, in the open parking space infront of Chapters. It's next to the cinema and practically across from BMW Crowfoot.
Time: Let's say ??? Noon ? Who else is coming ? |

What kind of mileage are you guys getting driving around in Calgary?
My 335xi is only giving me about 500km per tank! Is that normal? |

Hi everyone! I'm another newbie, but I gotta tell ya, I'm excited I finally found a BMW forum that has more than 1 other member from Calgary
I've been reading a bit about this meet coming up next weekend and think I should come out and meet some people. Sounds like fun. On a different note, I just got my 335i this past May, so I'll be needing some winter tires. I had a set of Nokian Hakkapellitta RSi on my last car (2000 328i sedan) and it was better in the snow than my wife's AWD suv! Any recommendations? Has anyone ordered anything from Tirerack and had it shipped here? I guess that's enough questions for my first post. |

For tires, tirerack has really good prices but they do not carry Nokian. From ordering to the date it arrives to your door it will take about a week which is pretty fast. Also, if you want to buy tires you can also check out Urban Expressions and talk to Bob. Hes a really good down to earth guy and will hook anyone up. see you at the meet edit: Lets see some pics

Good question. First thing I need to tackle is winter tires, and I would like to get the windows tinted, but aside from that I haven't put too much thought into mods, although the short-shift kit interests me.
