and he's high as a kite obviously.
What people never realize when they quote dealer prices on their wheels or their OEM rubber is that the only people that buy them is insurance companies. After an accident, when there are one or 2 f'd up rims the insurance co. HAS to buy the replacement and match the rubber so the manufacturer/dealer hammers them for it. Thats why a replacement rim for a '08 Chevy Shitbox GL Sport Turbo can be $500 or even more. The same thing goes for the rubber. Nobody goes out and says "I want the Bridgestone Potenza RFT. I don't care if it's an out friggin' rageous $750". No one in their right mind would pay that kind of money for those rims. |

When i picked up my car the fianace guy tried to sell me the tire and wheel warranty for $795
I told him I didn't need it and he went on and on about how much a RFT cost to replace - around $700 so one damaged tire would even be worth it. I told him that a replacement on tirerack would be around $300 and besides there would be no way I would be putting stock RFT's back on the car once I'm done with them. THEN he tells me that I cant put anything but RFT's on the car because it will screw up the suspension......At this point I started to get pissed, told him nicely that he doesnt know what he is talking about and that I still do not want to purchase the tire and wheel warranty. Needless to say he didnt like the fact that I had done my homework (besides I'm a car nut too so I know my shit) and he was a bit of an ass for the rest of the paperwork process.....
