aux/usb in center console
Hey guys so my aux/usb inputs in the center console dont work correctly. Through the aux input I get sound out of the driver side speaker. I’ve directed volume to all four sides and only get it in the front driver side. I’ve also tried different aux cables. Same thing. I get nothing through the usb input. Doesn’t even recognize that there is anything plugged in. I bought a cheap replacement aux/usb unit off Amazon but that did the same thing. I went to the junkyard for some other things and happened to find a car with the piece in there. I took everything apart only to realize the connections are different. I have an 08 and I grabbed it out of an ‘11. Were there different connections between pre lci and lci? Also since I’ve tried changing out the actual unit once before and came to the same outcome is there anything else I can check while I have my center console out. Thanks.
I’ve attached some pics as well. The first 3 pics are from my car. And the last two are from the one I pulled out of the yard. |

run mdecoder to find out the factory options the car came with
6fl is usb. 08 was the first year of usb . USB comes through the Mulf Hi module in a US 08 with the 6Fl option. In a 2011 the combox module takes care of usb . Cable is not likely to fail unless the connector is bad. Also a factor is do you have I drive or a pro radio. Is this car new to you . If so somebody may have been messing with this portion of the car. |

Here’s a screenshot of the media options off mdecoder.
I do have the 6fl option. So I’m going to be putting my center console back together and leave that same one in since I also figured it wasn’t where the issue lies. I also have a tcu and mulf2 from a 2009 that I pulled as well. If I were to switch those out with mine in the car, would I have to code anything ? Would it work? Edit: I do have I drive. It’s been my car for the last 3 years. I bought it with this problem thinking it was an easy fix. I’ve just been living with the issue and just want to finally fix it |

You can run both the bluetooth phone and usb off the mulf 2 hi there is no reason to have a TCU but if you remove it you will have to program out the TCU monitor option in the Instrument Cluster( Kombi module ) and put a Most jumper in at the TCU Most Line. If you get another mulf 2 hi be ready to default code it to your vehicle. You could consider one of the MR12volt adapters that will give you Bluetooth phone and streaming , USB and SD card and another Aux. |

I have a combox I’m planning on putting in once I get the pnp harness. I’m hoping that will fix it. I just put in a cic unit to replace my ccc, but that didn’t do anything to fix the aux sound. About the MR12volt. I’m trying to keep eveeything oem/oem+. Plus I think that has to be plugged into the aux for sound anyways. I’m hoping the combox fixes it. If not I’ll try running a new usb cable from center console to combox. Not sure what else could make the aux come out of 1 side of the car. |
