THIS IS GREAT: I have a September 2006 build as well (early adopter)
does this new one have that haptic feedback deal like on 2007's? (knob has vibration feedback and variable resistance) ~Frost

Did the swap on my 2007 E92 335D but the scroll functionality is not working...
do I need to get new controller programmed in? everything else is working fine, I did have to get the car updated via the dealer first... (but I did not tell them why! ) thanks. |

this retrofit will only work with the updated ccc version which were the march '07 builds and later. if your original idrive controller has the "mouth shouting" button then i don't believe this will work plug n play. i wanted to know before i ordered the parts if the controller retrofit needs programing or software updates to work. i know some needed it but did anyone do it without having to get a software update? and does the dealer charge for a software update?

Help please!!!!
Hey guys. I have a little problem that I hope someone can clarify for me . I have just purchased a new LCI iDrive controller for my 2006 E90 325i CCC Nav Pro System with voice control. Now I see that the old controller has 2 sockets (4 pin & 8 pin), however the new controller only has a 4 pin connector.
I saw in a thread somewhere that I need to transfer wires 1,2,4,5 from the 8 pin connector to 1,2,3,4 on the 4 pin connector (see attached pic). My question is what happens to the 4 wires which were originally from the 4 pin connector, and what happens to the remaining 3 wires (3,6,7) from the 8 pin connector . Any advice would be much appreciated . |

Hello Everyone,
Hate to bring back a thread but it seems like I did not do enough research. So my build date is 01/06 e90 325i with nav. I went out of the way and bought the center trim LCI, the LCI controller bracket, and the LCI controller. Did the install and low and behold no SCROLL. So after reading all over, texting some locals for coding I AM FREAKING THE F*&K OUT... According to the info on here updating the CCC is a BIG deal and can be expensive. I am going to try troubleshooting at the dealer and see what happens. I am really not hopeful! If anyone has experience with this please send a PM or post up a comment. MUCH HELP NEEDED IN MIAMI! |

UPDATE:
So took the car to the dealer to get the CCC firmware/software updated. I was speaking to the tech and he couldn't perform the update because I had the new CIC iDrive controller installed and the car could not update. He said that I would have to uninstall everything and then perform the update. He also said that installing the new CIC controller would not work. I am going to uninstall everything, perform the update and then see what happens. FYI this wasn't so easy or PNP, perhaps the install but functionality wise the scroll is NO GO... Looking to update next week, lets see what happens. |

Hello Everyone,
Here is my update... So I spent the entire day at the dealer and according to the tech the software was updated. As soon as I got home I checked if the iDrive CIC controller worked with the update and well it did not. All functions are there accept the scrolling, which I need for it to work. My build date is 01/06 e90 325i, and I don't believe that its ever going to be possible to get this mod done. In any case I am selling the following which is what I bought for the mod: -iDrive controller CIC $115 shipped ($195 new at the dealer) -Bracket for controller $15 shipped ($15 new at the dealer) -Wood Trim Console for CIC controller $150 shipped -Wood Trim Console for CIC controller w/ Ashtray $185 shipped -Wood Ashtray trim $55 shipped Good luck! |

What did you say you purchased the wood console part from? I've been looking for one to do the same with a future CIC upgrade... Thanks in advance... |

Just read through this whole thread and I have a few questions.
1) what is the actual purpose of doing this other than cosmetic? It says "shortcuts" what "shortcuts" are you referring to? Like someone said, on the CCC controller if you hold the wheel in the direction of the function you want for ~2 seconds, it will jump there (i.e. hold down for audio, right for nav, up for bluetooth, etc) 2) people keep mentioning a "software update" First off, how do you know what software version you're currently running? How can I tell? Where do I find that info in my car? Then, once I find out what I'm running how will I know what the most up-to-date software is? And if I do need an update, how much does the dealer charge for this? If all it does is introduce a few "shortcuts" that we already have, and provide a newer cosmetic look, then I think it might be more trouble than what it's worth to do this. Also, something somewhat unrelated, I noticed there is a difference between the CCC iDrive wheels. One has just a "menu" button, and one has a "menu" button and a "guy shouting" button. I'm assuming that's bluetooth? If not, then what is it? And what is the difference between the two buttons? My iDrive is just the "menu" button without a guy shouting. Is the guy shouting an additional feature, or a "shortcut" from my button?
