I actually just had Liqui moly 5w40 put in yesterday again. I'm not sure why, just told it was best. I go to AHM automotive in Richmond.

I just buy at Canadian Tire. Castrol Edge 0w-40. Goes on sale quite frequently. Its actually on sale now 32.29 for 5L. Some buy Mobil 1 0w-40. they go on sale for roughly $28 for 4.4L

Isn't the bmw recommended weight 5w30? what are your reasons for going 0w-40?

I think bmw recommends 0w-30, 5w-30, 0w-40, and 5w-40. I choose 0w-40 because for castrol and mobil 1, they are the only weight i can buy that meets bmw LL-01 specs at Canadian tire.

I have used non LL-01 5w-30 in my car. Doesnt really make a difference. But i do change my oil very 6-7k km.

Garage List
Use anything that you can buy on sale (Canadian Tire) and complies with BMW LL-01. Unless you're looking for a certain oil for a specific application, any BMW LL-01 should work for daily driving.
