LMS codes: P0401 (common) and P042E

Ahh the joys of diesel ownership. This morning I get a CEL. Shut it down; restart, still get the CEL. Plan B, off to the dealer since I still have the used car warranty. Grab the other keys as I thought the regular key retains codes. I got the SES light for the ride over. SA says they can't look at it today (they're jammed) but bring it in Monday. I ask could they run just the codes? Nope. mKay. Off to AutoZone and they run a scanner and came back with those two: P0401 and P042E. Both appear to be EGR related. What say ye folks? And it appears BMW has an extended warranty on EGRs for my car (10 year/120,000 miles).

Thoughts?
