What would you do?

After getting rid of 08 335i a few years ago for an suv… I miss it so I am getting back into one as my 2nd car/usual daily driver when not hauling the kids and crap.

Looking under $10k... more like $7k would be nice so I can have leftover for maintenance & modding

The 2 I am looking at are an '08 335i white ext/brown int with 151k and an 08 335xi silver ext/blk interior with 80k. Both automatic.

ultimately when I test drive them both, I will get which one I like best but just throwing this thread out just for fun to see what some other people think...

White 335i -

Pros -
*basically every high mileage maintenance item has been done recently except water pump. Thousands spent so I should be good for awhile
*Jb3 & DCI intake are only mods. Otherwise stock (this could be a pro or con ...my goal is go jb4 Fbo eventually)
*More packages/features (It has everything I want except nav which I wouldn't use much anyways & pdc)

Cons -

*151k mileage
*I don't mind the white, but it is on the bottom list of my color choices
*stock wheels that I would want to swap out or paint

Silver 335xi
Pros
* Lot Lower mileage
* already Jb4 FBO so no mod money needed
* Black M3 Rims that I love
* I like the silver better
* AWD
Cons
*Less maintenance done recently (will need oil pan gasket soon and probably other stuff)
*Rebuilt title
*Not as many options including no sport package (no oil cooler or sport seats or paddle shifters) or sunroof I think
*$500 more expensive

Price/value aside and Assuming both are maintained well with no current problems (healthy engine/turbos/fuel pump) and drive as they should, what would you choose if you had to pick?

There are better choices and it takes a little patience to find a solid car. I would never buy a high mileage, tuned and modified car. I’m sure that a clean, unmolested ‘09 with less than 100K can be found for $8-9K.

Find a Silver one with more options and under 100,000 miles. You can always buy replica M3 rims. Be picky, and bide your time.

I would keep looking, you're itching but dont need to pull the trigger so take your time to find the car that doesn't need a poll.

A clean 09' with a manual transmission, under 100K miles, for less than $10,000? Doubtful. That's needle in a haystack.
I found the needle two years ago but I paid $17K.

Truth. Took me nearly a year to find my second 335i.

Ended up with a clean bone stock low mileage car. Had a few typical maintenance things to go over but otherwise solid.

If you're happy with the price of the white car and okay with the color I'd do that all day over the silver with rebuilt title and needing maintenance. That is huge, as you know, on these cars and you will be thousands ahead tk have one with all the typical wear items already recently replaced. It's not hard at all to rack up 6k in one year of maintenance if the previous owner didn't keep up with its needs. Plus, it's far more fun to buy wheels, etc. Of your choice than to buy an already aesthetically modded car and be playing catch up on maintenance.
