Vanos Solenoids - SULEV Question -
I've got a 2007 328i Sulev 102k mi
Originally from California, now in Utah and at BMW of Murray due to failed emissions. After diagnostic check the service center advised it needs both VANOS SOLENOIDS replaced. And that it's NOT covered under the Sulev Warranty. Im not convinced it's not covered under Sulev; possibly they're not aware or are just incorrect. I don't know, but I've read through most of the Sulev threads here and have the warrantied parts list - So here's my question: based on the list in the picture below, are 'solenoid valves' or 'sas valves' or 'injection valves' all something different than 'vanos solenoids'? Please help- -Sunny |

I'd say from the information you posted, the solenoid valves are SULV covered.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I own a 2008 SULEV and had the VANOS solenoid valves replaced 3 times under warranty. THE SULEV warranty is good for 15 years/150,000 miles. The SA got it wrong. You can call other dealers to confirm.

That's very helpful, thank you. Can you tell me if you are in California or was your car originally from California? My Utah bmw center after much debate, said it should be covered under sulev warranty but ONLY if the car is currently registered in California. From what I've read here on the forums that shouldn't be the case (for a 2007, at least). So I'm curious where your car originated.

It is covered under the 15 year/150,000 mile SULEV warranty, but ONLY if the vehicle is currently registered in a SULEV state. I can't remember if Utah is a SULEV state or not off the top of my head.
