DPF Gutted?

Hi guys

I’ve bought a 335d back in Feb which was fitted with Hybrid Turbos, R90 Fuel Pump, FMIC, backbox delete (centre res still fitted) etc

I was told the car has a DPF Gutted/
Delete but all the videos I’ve seen on YouTube cars with the DPF and Backbox delete are way louder and whistle way louder than mine.

I’ve plugged my Creation C110 code reader in and looked at the DPF Values, they backpressure stays at 0mbar and the last regen was 28,000 miles ago and says that the DPF still has 140k miles left in it’s life.

I was hoping for a pre and post emission readout really to see if it was matching to confirm the delete

I’ve now read online that they have a Cat and a DPF inside and people just delete the DPF is this true?

Is there a way to confirm that it has or hasn’t been deleted?

If I buy a delete downpipe would I need to have it mapped again?

On full chat the car does leave a smoke screen behind but only when full throttle/boost.

FYI I bought the car from a dealer so the history of the vehicle is extremely limited. All service history etc was there but had no evidence of print outs etc was missing half of it (was Part Ex into BMW Dealership)

Thanks in adv!

You spoke of dealer 2 different times with last time as BMW dealer. Unsure if they are 2 different dealers or same BMW dealer

My point is a BMW dealer can not sell a deleted car.

Want to know the DPF has been gutted?
You will see a screw plug where EGT #2 sensor would normally go.

A gutted DPF will still keep sound down done due to its internal cat still there. An aftermarket DP with cat is louder and has more whistle.

Last thing: if you’re gutted, your tail pipes will get completely black in like 1 day. DPF in tact would take very long to do this.

Sorry yes, that’s my fault.

The car was part ex at a BMW Dealership, over here in the UK I’ve been told most of the Part Ex vehicles get sent to auction, this was one of the vehicles that done so and another dealer (not BMW but BMW Specialist) bought the vehicle then sold it on to me.

The tips do get very black and it does soot some on full boost. I did plug the vehicle into Carly and looked at the soot values and they was red and off the scale so that kinda confirms that it is infact DPF Delete.

I’ve read that there is a Cat (SCR or something) on the mid pipe, is this true? I believe this is still original and not been touched as the car isn’t loud at all. It has had the rear muffler deleted by the previous owner, it does make a roar on boost but nothing like any of the YouTube videos I’ve seen. I’ve seen videos with the standard exhaust system with dpf delete and SCR delete or whatever it’s called and they are incredibly louder than mine.

If your DPF is gutted, your SCR will certainly clog up if not removed or also gutted. SCR is the oval shaped oblong container aft of the transmission. It is what scrubs NOX out of exhaust stream in conjunction with the DEF. DEF is urea. Urea converts to ammonia at around 300C. Ammonia (NH3) reacts to converts these NOX to other compounds.

Some weld in a pipe in place of SCR and others open it up and remove internal fibrous stuff and weld back shut. Still others remove all exhaust aft of downpipe flange and put in aftermarket exhaust. Be careful which ever Road you take. I am speaking to how North American vehicles are equipped. Uncertain if SCR and urea for that matter exist in your car over in Europe.

Stand behind your car at idle. Do you smell unmistakable stink of diesel?

FTFY. They all stink when the dpf/cat are cold.

1) If your car puts out a smoke cloud when you accelerate hard, the car can not have a DPF. A DPF filters out the soot.
2) If the car has not regenerated the DPF in the last 28,000 miles your car can not have a DPF. It would have totally plugged up long ago and the engine would not run.
3) You don't have a SCR in europe. One easy give away if you had one would be the need for DEF fluid and a filler door on the sid of the car by the rear wheel.
4) If your catalytic converter was removed, you would hear the turbo whine destinctly and easily. If there is any doubt, your catalytic converter is still there. You can't miss the turbo whine if the catalytic converter has been removed. The turbo whine is a dominant sound in the exhaust if the catalytic converter has been removed. The turbo whine is more of a back ground noise with the catalytic converter is in place.

literally every single one I've ever been around does... Maybe with SCR it's different?
