Recommendations for brake pads on track days (from experience only!)

Im thinking this may be the wrong forum... Im not 100% sure....

From experience running a 335 at the track, can anyone recommend a good set of pads? The stockers are OK, but still lacking when backing down from 140+. Also, I know at this rate, they cant last much longer, so its a good time to start looking.

My only criteria is that they dont eat up my rotors.

Performance Friction Z-rated sounds like what you're looking for. It's a heavy duty street pad that bimmerworld recommends for track duty as well.

Bedding not required, lasts FOREVER (5 weekends and barely 1/4 wear), easy modulation, rotor-friendly.

You said its a "street pad", so how does it do for dust on the street? Any squeeling?

SG335 found some rear pads. Running the fronts alone was problematic.

Just the fronts? Does the back end play games? Do you have any more details about running these?

Low dust, squeal is low as well.

Never tried running just the fronts, so I can't say. Not sure what the pad shape is, but check your local autozone (they have a 2 year replacement warranty on these).

We have seen it when a more aggressive rear pads are used, but not the fronts.

What is your rear toe setting at? Spring rates front and rear...damper settings? Aero aids? Heel-and-toe?

I got this when using Pagid Oranges on the front with stock OEM brake pads in the rear on my last B5 S4. I had the Stoptech 332mm kit

All suspension and body work was stock.

And yes, I heel and toe.

I believe the problem is screwed up brake biasing because of the major differential in pad coefficient of friction.

I've tracked at Laguna with R4S pads with great results. R4's for sure will be great for track only use.

Send them an email or call them about them. If you can find out what code they are, you may be able to order them for cheap somewhere else like here:

i know you want a more hardcore set of brakes, but from the time i talked to hkj about his stock brakes, he said they were fine. they didn't fade that badly, and held up pretty well at laguna seca

so you may not HAVE to spend extra money on this

stock brakes are not sufficient for me. I had fade and overheating and overflow of the brake fluid from the reservoir due to expansion / heat. I also had a squishy pedal.
