Fully intact owners in this thread
There are plenty of FAQs devoted to deletes. I want to hear from owners who have kept their systems intact.
What have you replaced? When did it fail? How much did it cost? Example 1: Part: SCR metering valve (aka DEF Injector) Failure: code xxxxx Miles: 167k miles Cost including parts and labor: $85, DIY installation Example 2: Part: EGR Cooler Failure: coolant leak, code xxxxx Miles: 60k miles Cost including parts & labor: $500, professional installation Are you tuned or stock? |

Fully intact here, but also fully European/UK 330d, so no def to worry about. Only part I've replaced so far is the intake manifold...
Part: Intake manifold Failure: leaking swirl flaps, and small rubber bits flaking off internally Miles: 145k miles Cost including parts & labor: £130ish, self install, new Febi part (not OE) Part: Glow plugs and controller Failure: 1 of 6 glow plugs operational, replaced the module to be sure it was one and done Miles: 125k miles Cost: Can't remember, DIY. OEM parts. Last edited by Tambohamilton; 03-13-2023 at 07:15 PM.. |

i bought a (to my knowledge) fully intact EU 330D (m57). had the EGR replaced at +/ 200k km, original DP/DPF.
Glow plugs & module changed imidiately after purchase same for front & rear gas struts for boot&bonnet. complete suspension & almost every arms are replaced @ 215k km went from 15 fault codes after purchase to 2 fault codes now (AUC sensor and a DPF warning over 200k km) no sweat |

Hmm, maybe I reset mine already then, because I'm at 155k miles and only the windscreen misting sensor error showing. Dpf seems healthy enough anyhow

Original owner. Bought new. Now at 202k miles. All stock. No delete. Engine never opened. Still runs like brand new. No carbon issues that I noticed or know of.
Main issues have been emissions related. DEF tank failed twice. Once at 75k (covered under warranty) and once toward 175k (paid out of pocket). Replaced catalytic converter once around 120k and DPF around 190k as it reached end of life based on mileage counter. Other replacements have been fairly normal / wear and tear / expected with miles. Engine mounts, harmonic balancer, belts, suspension parts, intake housing and hoses, rear wheel bearings, turbo lines, water pump, battery, etc. preventatively replaced swirl flaps around 190k. Over lifetime to date (12 years), about $1.5-2k / year to maintain the car in top condition. Otherwise knock on wood rock solid car. Have a 2013 X5d also m57 engine, 170k miles, with similar trends. |

2nd owner of car.
About 100k km driven. I had dpf error at one point saying it is clogged, can't regen but then i started using liqui moly fuel additives, forced regen and it fixed DPF. Couple years later i changed pressure sensor for DPF because it once threw wrong pressure error code. I use fuel additive every 2nd fillup and i've replaced nothing in the engine during 5 years of ownership apart from the oil/filters. The diesel is so poor quality nowdays, need to add some additives so it burns cleaner resulting less soot and less problems with injectors/EGR/sensors. I first started using additives in -20 degree winter and it made cold starts way better. Possibly my injectors were about to get clogged or something. Which additive(s) do you use?
I use millers diesel power ecomax, which is mainly 2ehn (cetane booster). Once I'm done with this bottle I think I'll just buy pure 2ehn and run that instead. I think it helps fuel economy, especially with supermarket diesel (which I tend to avoid generally anyhow). Also might help with smooth running when cold, but that may be just confirmation bias... https://www.millersoils.co.uk/produc...-power-ecomax/ |

This i use every 2nd fillup:
https://www.liqui-moly.com/en/system...0034.html#5139 This i use every 4th fillup: https://www.liqui-moly.com/en/diesel...0035.html#5148 At my work M57 is quite popular choice for car engine and while some of them have had problems with injectors/DPF i was quite surprised and at the same time not. None of them use the additives because they think they don't work - fuel is enough why spend extra. Ha, i guess i change my mind when injector fails, will it? |

Good to know, thanks.
The first one is basically 2ehn mixed with paraffin probably about 20/80%. The paraffin has no effect in the fuel system (except maybe increasing the lubricity of the fuel?), I think, so it's basically a cetane booster like the millers that I use. The second one is mainly paraffin, but with a carboxylic acid mixed in. Not sure what that does and how it works... I am certainly not a chemist! |

Quote:
EU - one 1) DOC - built into the one unit with DPF. 2) SCR Cat - middle of exhaust section. this one gets poisoned by bad NOx sensors and eventually fails.
