If you sign up for all 3 days, I think its a $40-60 rebate.

Believe you me...it can be fun. Especially when the rental car is a 4 speed automatic piece of sh*t with 4 cylinders and 120 hp on a good day and all-season tires. Imagine the looks on the other instructors when they saw us on track with a Chevy Malibu looking like it's about to take a p*ss in a turn.

Call a car transporter to have your car shipped to Cal Spd Way and you can just fly down! I'll pick you up at Ontario Airport.

S4to335, Do you know Terry Tang? He used to be on the boards with the So Cal Audi chapter. His red B5 S4 was at my shop for some work. Boy! That thing is quick, 450 hp at the wheels on the street tune and 550 hp at the wheels on the 105 octane fuel race tune! A very capable track car!

That name doesnt ring a bell...but he may go under another name on the forums...if the car has ever been to Wicked Motorsports..and had Mike work on it..it probably hauls butt. He has one B5 S4 that totally rocks at his shop right now.

What times are the "fast" guys running config 13 @ BW?
I'm just curious.

There is no timing allowed at BMWCCA driver's education events. Also, the clubs like to run with star mazda.

This guy sets class records with NASA... ask him:

I see, I was just curious what kind of times the reg. trackday guys were doing in the advanced group. I've been tracking my bike for a bit now and would like to track my car one day.
On bikes, it's not uncommon to see guys dip below 2 min. in the advanced group. That's running config 13 with the bus stop, lost hills and sweeper.

Tough to say, BMWCCA isn't timed and star mazdo does add around 5 seconds. Even with that I'm sure some people will get around 2:05-2:10, maybe even lower. I'd watch out for Satakal, he runs a 1:45 with his eyes closed.

lol, if you wanna call my 1:45.985 a "1:45", that's cool. I'd call it a "1:46".

Tough thing for comparison, is every car is set up different. And, there's a huge range between drivers. If I was dumb enough to let 325racer TT my car, he'd probably see times around 2:10ish. On saturday, I found 2:16.5. But then, it's got different wheels and tires so it's not a true "stock" time.

Fellas,

I'm looking coming to this event at Cal Speedway....sounds sweet.

What's the requirement for tow hooks/rings on our cars? I've searched and can't come up with anything. I don't recall getting these items with my car upon purchase, so if required, where can I buy them?

You should have one. It's in the "boot". And, it's not required. Worse case scenario, you can borrow mine.

At BMWCCA events you don't see cars go off often. That's why its not required.

Haha. It wasn't the diff that went out. Some sort of coupling between the drive shaft and diff. It smelled diffy cause it broke a seal. As far as I know, I'm the only idiot dumb/skilled enough to break one of those.

Friend convinced me to rock a signature. Car control is a bitch. Autocross is the necessary next-step in my development. I'm gonna get myself into big trouble at the big track if my fundamentals aren't strong.

I have a lot of autocross experience....I got 3rd place in CSP back in 2000...in my old Audi S4.

Ah yes, I found it in the boot. Thanks! I also found that one of my tools is missing, seems someone at the dealership was interested in my tool box.
