Dave from Speedventures called me yesterday and left me a voicemail that I can instruct...but with absolutely no warning. I dont know if I can go. I know Mr. 5 is on Friday..but are you other guys on Saturday? I dont think I can swing it..but you never know.

BTW, Aaron at Speedventures is the one that said they didnt need me, or more specifically, that I would have to pay to drive.

Aaron and Dave asked me to instruct on the day of one of their events in SoCal, cut I was already signed up as a driver and there is no way I could have done it. I bet you an instructor couldn't make it and you are their backup!

Well, it was a blast.
I went for a ride a long in a Lambo LP560-4 to get things started.
Then I went out with an instructor for my first session and bettered my time by 5 seconds in the second session.

To top it all off, I completely lost it on turn 4--doing a complete 360 and got stuck about a foot deep in the gravel.
I spent the rest of the day pulling rocks out from between the wheel rim and the tire, and the thousands of them embeded underneath the car and brake air ducts.
I got the whole thing on video too.
I'll load it when I get the chance.

My fastest time of the day was a 1.56 (on street tires)

WOW, very nice & smooth!

Is this a good way to shift?
I sometimes stayed in 3rd from T5 -> T6.

Here's mine. The wipe out is on the end.
From what I found in all of the vids, this is the best lap:

Man, the last 30 seconds of that video are nuts! I didn't think it would be that bad when I spoke with you earlier today, but that spinout was scary crazy. I would have shat my pants. Glad to see the car was okay, except for the gravel stuck in the nooks and crannys.

Whoa..you were really really close to hitting a tire wall...which woulda been a very hard ouch. You are taking T2 too tight...that is more of a spec miata line...but not for our cars. You really cheated in on T3...and I was really surprised at how much your car got outta whack at T4...did you lift?

I am pretty sure I never hit 5th in the main stretch...I stay in fourth..and I use to play around with staying in 3rd thru the corkscrew...since the 2-3 shift going at the bottom of the corkscrew when you are turning..is a biotch. I think I mostly go to 4th going from T5-T6...depending on traffic.

I think a few of those my laps are 1:49s...I have done 1:47s before.

I definitely lifted when I was going sideways.
Thanks for the tips on the other corners.

Yesss

That was entirely too fun. First sessh of the day and someone spins out on the warm up lap and spent practically the whole sessh under black flag. My group (blue ) was so packed it was a conga line, so I bumped back to white with 8 other cars! My next three sessions I dueled it out with a white M3 almost all alone, I even got black flagged for passing in 9 (but sir, it I was pointed by!!)

A ton of people left early, and I got to double sssion at the end of the day, 50 minute sesh

The White M3 had a nasty spin out of 3, glad he missed the wall but damnnn!

I got my best time so far 1:55.44 - Street tires and no tune The M3 managed a 1:54xx. All in the white group..

M3 is no joke, out of the box that car is potent and beautiful.

Harold, sorry you didn't make it, but the suspension worked out killer.

NCRC, Laguna in Dec for 170!!! who else is there??

Congrats man!
It's obvious that I have a lot to learn but it was a lot of fun regardless.
This was my 3rd track session so hopefully I'll get better before I wreck my car.

Be sure to ask how much a tow out of the gravel will cost you.
