There was a thread way back when (3 yrs ago or more) where a guy was asking if anyone was interested in buying that plate. I asked about this as i was intersted. I never got any response. I recall Da trem maybe in that conversation. People have different names in different forums. This crossed over into the X5 forum and i recall a guy named Remelasi (sp?). He may be speaking in this thread way up earlier too. Anyway, there is a custom aluminum plate that can be had but i don't know anymore as to who is the focal to buy from. I see another familiar name (Sukutash) that knows about the plate too.

Can either of you direct how to get this aluminum plate please?

I installed/spliced a brass T fitting into the dipstick to serve as the oil return line for the Provent 200. In the return line, I incorporated the Mann check valve.

Sukutash, pls hook me up with your source for the plate. I read the threads a couple years ago but never got a response on said plates. I now have another M57 powered car (X5) and doing a catch can on it. Putting in aftermarket intercooler and want to make sure to not get oil in it. I will have to do it the conventional way (splice in after plastic duct on valve cover) if I hear nothing. Thanks

Do we really need a oil catch can?
Has anybody tried to run a hose from the oil breather straight under the car and plug the whole in the intake pipe (the pipe that is connected to the large turbo) in order not to introduce unmetered air into the system?

You can do that but will leave oily drips and it will smell like half diesel exhaust and half oil smell. I did that on my tdi for a while until I got concerned about it freezing up in winter.

you'll lose ring-seal on the pistons without pulling a vacuum on the crankcase / manifold... the ticket would be to install a mechanical vacuum pump and dump it into the exhaust pipe with welded in bung.

Still want a catch can, and not blow oil mist all over cars behind you or cause a possible small exhaust fire ... more vacuum = better ring seal = more horsepower...

There's not much vacuum on our ccv in the first place because it's only set by how hard the air filter restricts pre turbo intake flow. According to my year old filter with filter minder, it's still almost nothing. Maybe on e90 a few inches of vac if you run restrictive stock air box.
Venting to atmosphere is not a problem on diesels, but the smell and oil drops make it not worth it.
Running it to exhaust is tricky if you still have scr filter, you can pressurize it... Without that, it's also tricky to get the right bung welded to use the flow of exhaust to gain suction... If wrong you can have a tiny bit of back pressure to the ccv (bad idea!).

Better to keep ccv as it is and just delete egr, there is a temporary method which you can put back a month before inspection if needed. Or just get chipped.
I had a catch can but the length of lines and worry about freezing made me go back to the stock and simple short run ccv system.

That is A sweet setup. Does that velocity stack help or is it just to fit the filter? Also is maf sensor after the 45 degree coupling?

Stack is needed for this filter. No Maf on this car

What is the benefit of deleting the MAF? Do we really need it?

For me it didnt do anything. Pretty useless once its maxed out...and way simpler to make a good turbo inlet.

So, hello BMW community. I am not on here often, unless I am looking up the answer on how to do something and for all of the advice and information, I say thank you.

Having said that, it always nice to be able to give back a little to the community. I do not know if anyone is still modifying their BMW X5 35d, but I sure am.

So, I have recently had issues with my #6 fuel injector yet again......... I am assuming this injector issue was due to water accumulating around the injector(s) in the winter and messing them up.

Having said that, I have previously omitted all of the emissions control systems in my BMW X5 35D. Now I am focused on fixing the last known issue that is causing carbon build up within the intake, and that is the CCV valve. Sorry BMW but you f&$ked the did when you developed the CCV valve on the m57 engine. Vaporized oil is spread throughout the intake and intercooler systems, due to the failure of BMW to do anything........... And I mean anything about this issue.

So, what do we do? We fix the situation ourselves. I know many ppl have designed built aluminum plates that replace the CCV valve. I don't have the ability to have one built, so I have gone Via route #2. I took the original CCV valve and 3D scanned it. After many hours of cleaning up the scan, I came up with a 3D model of the CCV valve that works perfectly with an aftermarket oil catch can, to pull out all of the old nasty dirty oil out of your intake manifold.

I am pretty happy with this plug and play system. It bolts in to the factory system without too much issue and keeps things looking almost stock.
