If there is not enough line pressure on the E-clutch, then there is probably an underlying mechanical problem, like failing seals or worse failing E-clutch itself. There is a really good article on possible failing points and why you could loose pressure on the E-clutch.

Putting even more pressure on it would not help you here.

To see how healthy your E-clutch is, take a look at your adaptions, inside the app.

xHP.....is there any way to put an option in your tune to keep the tranny from dropping into 3rd gear and staying locked there when it senses something is wrong and it goes into limp mode?

When it does it at 100+ mph and redlined the motor....it's not a good thing.

Just wondering if that "lock into 3rd gear" thing is something that can be deleted.

The "start in 2nd gear" feature is now live for all supported 8HP vehicles!
We also do support N63 and N63TU F10, F11, F12 series cars now!

The transmission shifting into 3rd happens, when the trans goes into limp mode as this is its default gear. The gear this happens in can not be changed and was chosen by ZF, so you can slowly "limp" home.
Question is why the transmission does it go into into limp mode in the first place?

EDIT: There are 2 Limp gears....3rd and 5th. It gets chosen based on vehicle speed, but that system isn't perfect and there are situations where it is just not able to select 5th...in that situation it will jump to 3rd.

Yep....that's what happened to me while I was going 100+ mph (wide open, running through the gears). Everything seemed fine until it went into limp mode The transmission showed a turbine speed fault, and then jumped into 3rd gear... locking there.....bouncing the tach off of 8,000rpms.....I'm sure it was not good on the motor. Stupid idea to have the transmission do that..... fault or not. I'd rather slip the clutches and cook a transmission vs. throwing a rid through the side of the engine block.

You always have to look at it from the OEM side. For them it is more dangerous to the average driver have a car without ANY drive until it comes to a standstill, than having a default gear it can rely on. And they have the 5th as second default limp gear for higher speeds, but for some reason, technical defect or other, it was not able to choose it, so it took 3rd.

Hey guys,

overall great performance from th xHP tuning. Such a great job! Except with the occasional slip under heavy load, I've had no issues whatsoever.

Recently weather became cold and I noticed that until the tranny is warmed up it will release from gear if I don't push on the gas pedal. So, basically if I'm moving and I'm not on the gas pedal it will idle with the highest possible gear, which seems odd to me. Once I hit the gas pedal it will engage the gear and will not lock (probably to warm up the tranny faster).

Any ideas why I'm idling with 50km/h and if this is normal behavior?

Thats to heat up the trans fluid by creating slip in the torque converter. Normal behavior, not changed by us.

Any news about X3 F25 30D 8HP70 (Euro) XHP maps or release day? I have heard that there is beta testing still going on at the moment for this model and the final map is not ready yet?

How many stages there going to be for this vehicle ? What are the difference between stage 1 or Stage 2 for this car ? This X3 is custom remapped to ≈ 300hp/700nm.

They are released months already. You can always check on our website in the Vehicle Finder. It's based on the same data the app uses, so it's always up-to-date. If a vehicle is in there, it's fully supported.

2014 BMW M235i  [0.00]
I have a 2014 M235i F22 with 100k miles and a fresh trans fluid, do you guys recommend using xHP flashtool? I feel like the transmission is a bit limp at lower rpms (below 2k) which i think the flashing tool would help.

btw, the car is daily city driven (usually in comfort mode lol. I dont really drive that fast unless i see another "fast" car on the road looking for trouble )
So what do you guys suggest? stage 2 or 3? something the improves the shifts but not too aggressive?

-custom down pipe
-custom Inter-cooler
-m performance exhaust
