OEM Alarm very Quiet

Hey Everyone,

I just got done installing my OEM retrofitted alarm into my 2006 330XI. After getting it programmed, I now hear the chirp, however it is very quiet. Even the coder mentioned that it is far quieter than what it should be. I have no idea what would cause this. Also, he kept getting a coding error when activating the proximity sensor. Everything was NIB when installed so I can only assume that everything was good.

Does anyone have any ideas? Below is a video of the chirp. It sounds much louder on the video that it does in person. Also it is because of the echo in the garage.

Here is an example of one that sounds normal!

Really?!?! That's too weird.

I just tested my proximity sensor and it does work as it should. The siren is still really quiet though after sitting for a bit. I am going to call the dealer tomorrow to see what the problem could be. I can't imagine that made it that quiet on purpose, I mean you can barely tell if your car locks or not.

I don't think it is possible to plug in the siren incorrectly, but I suppose it a possibility.

Alarm needs to be properly coded.
Whoever coded it for you didn't do a good job.

The same person has coded several of these cars. A couple of them people I know. I would highly doubt that this was a failure on his part. He is a go to for many performance shops in my area.

I'm not saying it's impossible though. People make mistakes.

Garage List
Adding the alarm to the VO in order for it to function is one thing - you can actually code the alarm sounds to different volume levels after it has been added to the VO and is functional.

There is info in the coding thread on the forum

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=451145

Values that need to be changed are contained in the coding spreadsheet - which I have access to at home, but not thru work. But I do remember that they have to do with which values 'wert05, wert06, wert07, wert08, etc. that you choose...

Thats a lot of great information!! I will have to talk to the person with the coder otherwise I may consider getting all of the equipment so I can look at it myself.

It looks like the cable he has on there is only for 2007+ vehicles though.

Even the distance dogs barking is louder than your alarm.

Best part is those dogs are probably 10 houses away. The camera just amplifies the audio a little bit. Again that shows how quiet it really is. Kind of bummed and want to have it resolved right away!
