INPA.ini Ask...

I'm troubleshooting huh guessing the reason why in Inpa going to E90 transmissions, I don't get to GS19. Ultimately I'm trying to get to analog so I can read tranny temp. Maybe my INPA.ini is bad in some way. If someone that has a working version same as mine could paste their INPA.ini file I'd appreciate it.

You are going to have to clarify what you are asking for .
Are you trying to get Inpa to work ?
Your question seems disjointed.
Is your Inpa not working .
You might want to go to the coding subforum.

With all respect, ctuna has a point. We could be more helpful if we knew what the problem was and your first sentence is gibberish.

Inpa.ini has nothing specific to do with transmission options, if indeed your issue has something to do with transmissions.

But here ya go

In my mind it was perfectly clear. Thanks for the response that didn't fix it however. I'm trying to get tranny fluid temps. In inpa when I go to e90, transmission, I'm not seeing GS19. I see automatic transmission. After I clicked on it I get Requested control unit: GS19/V1.06 … not found Control unit found: GS1912 Program will be stopped! After researching I went to {Root_Getriebe}
and added GS1912,Automatic Transmission, on the second line. I back spaced over the existing code which was the ZF tranny I guess. Now I get Group file D_EGS IFH-0015 Initialization error. Help Wanted!

Seem's like the version of the INpa (standard tools suite)
is missing files you need.
What was your source for this download.
There is a coding sub forum here for software and coding questions
and procedures.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=368

Bimmergeeks.net downloads are known to be good and the
most complete for US 3 series.
They also supply the software tools to update the 3 series files
with and e89 daten file download.

4 cylinder cars and diesels are not always supported well in these
downloads. (general FYI)

diagnostic manual ista/inpa

I was already grumpy you made me even more grumpy.

Changing menu's does no good unless the underlying files they
call are present and the fact the selection is not in the menu is
a clue that they are not present.

The industrial military complex is the answer, war is just a byproduct. Thanks for the helpful response.

You NEVER said what engine/tranny your "e93" has. INPA is clearly saying you have a 328i with GM6 transmission. "GS19" is the ZF transmission in 335i, and GS1912 is the GM6, so INPA is telling you WHY you can't connect to the EGS.

You are "somewhat correct" in what is needed to be able to connect. Do NOT delete or typeover ANY existing text string in the following instructions (UNLESS what you previously entered yourself was incorrect ;-):

Go to C:\EC-APPS\INPA\CFGDAT
Find E90.ENG
Open it in Notepad or similar. Locate the [ROOT_GETRIEBE] section and replace the second line in that section with this text string:

ENTRY= gs1912,Automatic Transmission,

If THAT change in the CFGDAT folder does NOT allow you to connect with the GM6 EGS for any reason, please post back with a copy of any error message.

I did what you described early on. This is what I have:
[ROOT_GETRIEBE]
DESCRIPTION=Transmission
ENTRY= GS19,Automatic Transmission,
ENTRY= GS1912,GEARBOX / Automatic GS19
ENTRY= VGSG90,X-Drive Transmission VGSG,
ENTRY= DKG_90,DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission),

Group File D_EGS
IFH-0015 INITIALIZATION ERROR
PROGRAM WILL BE STOPPED

ApiCheckJobStatus Error #28
IFH-0018 INITIALIZATION ERROR
API job error or no such result:
Continue script processing

I think I see a problem with the code...

I think I see a problem with the code...
I've NEVER written code for a living but I presume INPA uses "comma-delimited" fields. The first field after the "ENTRY=" appears to be the specific module SGBD you want to connect with (delimited with comma), and the 2nd field is the Name, which I presume can be whatever you want, as long as it is unique, also ending in/ delimited by a ","

I have entered in RED what appears on the respective line of my functioning INPA version, which did NOT initially have the proper GS1912 (GM6) designation, and BEFORE adding the line for GS1912, I got the SAME error message you first posted. AFTER adding line shown above, mine works. Others have reported the same issue for GM6, and I followed a post by someone else who had devised the fix to connect to his GM6.

Please post back with exact copy of your single line of code for GS1912 if STILL not working.

In Inpa I go: e90, transmissions, Automatic Transmission,

Then I get:

Versions do not match.
Malfunction possible!
SGBD version: 1.00.1 (in INPA)
SGBD version: 0.048
INPA Version: 0.010

I click OK

Then I get:

Language variants do not match.
Malfunction possible!

I click OK

Then I get:

Main Menu

BMW part number 7593220

F1 Information
F2
F4
F5 Read status
F6
F7
F8
F9
F10 End

I clicked F5

I get:

Read status

F1 Timeoutwerte
F2 Getriebesensoren
F3 Getriebe extern
F4 Aktive Ersatz-/Sicherungsfunktionen
F5 CAN

I clicked on all of the above except F5. Looks like a script isn't where it's supposed to be, so I'm being wrongly directed to what I didn't ask for.

[If you clicked on something, INSTEAD OF pressing the F2 Function key, try Pressing F2 INSTEAD, and you should get the screen shown below.]
When using INPA its helpful to be a Dinosaur who used DOS programs where you didn't "click" on a selection, you pressed the Function Key < F2 > associated with the selection. Using INPA for some of the menu choices, you can click the box on the "task bar" if it has a title & Function Key associated with it, and that usually works. Where NOTHING in "Task Bar" boxes, you should try pressing Function Key (F2 here).

I don't know why, but the EGS "GS1912" Module is MUCH "klunkier" than any of the others in my version of INPA -- perhaps lack of coordination between BMW & GM???

BTW, if you come upon a way to clear the Oil Wear Fault Code (578E) using INPA, please let us know. I can't do that either with Clear Fault Memory (Fehlerspeicher Loschen), OR with Adaptation Reset.

Please let us know if use of Function Key for selection purposes does NOT work for you.

If you like coding and messing with these programs fine.
But if you just want something that works with your car
and your current download doesn't provide that maybe you
should just try another.
The coding board people are more expert at adding files
to this . You will have to get lucky to find that kind of knowledge
on the general purpose forum here.

I pressed the F2 function key, I got a screen that said "Wahlhebelposition park". When I click on the F2 icon I get a screen that says "Wahlhebelposition park". So pressing or clicking F2 gives the same result.

This is the warning I get:

EDIABAS-Error

ApiResultText: Error #98
SYS-0008: JOB NOT FOUND
API job error or no such result!
Continue script processing?
Click yes but got "park"

Another piece of information is when I click on Engine to get coolant temps I get it no problems. Also, It was used to register my battery.
