car alarms

Hi Guys

Who do you recommend for car alarms in Sydney.

I know they can't get the car but I'm more concerned about theft from the car and people bumping into you in a car park etc.

somewhere close to northern sydney would be great.

thanks

actually, they can now days... they put it on a truck and take it back to where they work and have their people disable the alarm in private if need be

Pretty sure it should be standard equipment. It is on my M3, not sure on the 335 though as it hasn't gone off and I don't drive it that much.

is it necessary to get extra alarm for our car?

oh Dealer rang me couple days ago, telling me my car arrive at port kembla around 14-10-2007, and it takes around 2weeks , then i can pick up the car.
so there is 4weeks to go, but why each day feels like 1 year.

The wait will be well worth it.

i'm afraid this was true for the e46. there was an accessory, however, which served as the front "pdc." 'twas a euro plate frame which had embedded sensors. as with a lot of stuff, this was *un*available in oz. i don't think you can even order it via your neighbourhood dealer as they say it wasn't homologated or doesn't comply with ADRs ...

I think they started taking feedback from clients (supply and demand) - no one pays attention to the car alarm anyhow, they're simply ignored and have become a nuisance. They didn't seem to serve the purpose they were supposed to. With the advances in locking, immobilisation and datadot people stopped stealing cars except to order. Stealing from cars has obviously therefore INCREASED as a result. Perhaps alarms will start making a comeback.

Better off getting yourself a decent tracker, but that's only if you want the car back again - personally, if someone stole it, I'd prefer it to vanish and never return (assuming you have good insurance)...

All true

12 months new for old replacement, if it goes missing in the first 12 months I don't want it to be seen again!

It is actually quite a BS to pick up that extra options for the alarm at A$900.

In Singapore where i live (and if it can be done in Singapore, it can be done in Australia), we can get a 3rd party alarm and installed it at A$80. The installer can program it in to the existing remote control, so that it doesn't require drivers to carry another remote control.

Stealership is a PITA all over the world i guess.
