The HPFP and limp mode problems are blown out of proportion by M3 people that are scared. I nor Tony know one person that's had an issue and that's a fair amount of cars. That being said, there is a problem, just not as widespread as it seems. The M3 owners are saying this car isn't a true M car because it's a turbo and trying to make it look like this motor going into an M car is a HUGE mistake........retards

Also, pray that this car is @Chicago in orange

KC replace the trident with big league chew and you may have a deal. Like the Orange, but 47K? I would just get a 2004 Z06 vette & a Mini Cooper S JWC

So your car never went into limp mode and had to be taken to the dealer in Omaha while we were at MAM?

For a problem the owner created? Yes Justin. And when they put the boost line back on fully it fixed the problem.

Maybe a couple of viagras in the tank will fix the "limp" mode? Heee Heee

Beemer/Jerbear/others who know more about BMW's than me:

I thought limp mode was more than just boost related, I thought I read about it going limp when roadracing or something because of the lack of a rear LSD and the Stability or ABS doing getting mad and putting car in limp. This was when the 335i and 135i came out, I am hazy - many moons ago, so I am sure I have it hazy in my head.

Beemer - Maybe I have it confused from when you said something about rear pads getting chewed up or something, that could be my confusion.

Just wondering - Its not in my budget to get a BMW - but you know how Capt Slow is - needs to understand everything sometimes.

On the color - Orange is a little bit flashy for BMW imho. I understand they are appealing to a younger crowd, but I think this car would look titiculous (I just made that word up, I know) in alpine white, silver, red, black or the grey color Beemer and Tony the Tiger has-----greeeeeeeeeeeeeeat!

I would be more concerned if a car went into limp mode during normal or lightly spirited driving, not at the track. Same feeling about Subaru, wouldn't be concerned about buying another subaru despite some peoples issues with the motor. If you abuse anything beyond what it was built for it will break. Despite what we all may feel taking a car to the track is putting a lot of stress on the car, stress it would never see on the street. No different then people complaining about their 5MT subie trans being crap after they do 100 launches. Stupid is forever people. That is just me, I don't really track my car so I am sure that adds to my difference in opinion.

KC a C6 Z06 would be baby. I was going to say cock, but my wife felt baby was better seeing how the second coming of Troy arrives ~July 5th. My dad and I are hoping to eventually find a used ZR1 that would be baby +10. Not holding my breath for it to happen.

FYI we started installing a new motor in the 69 vette (Yellow one), picked up an Edelbrock 383(460hp/450tq) still in the crate from a guy we know, also bought a T-56 transmission (6 speed). We should have it installed by spring. Will be a nice change over the over the 300hp 350ci 4sp M-22 we had in it(limit for NCCC C1 class). It will probably only see track time at vette events (because I am a vag), thought if I was smart I would go to a few DMRV events to get seat time in it. Tobias turns 14 in July, need to see if DMVR allows minors with learners permit with me or steward riding along.

Troy:

http://cms.scca.com/documents/2011%2...lo%20rules.pdf ( Section 4 drivers, page 41 )

Page 41 talks about how Minors with Permits are allowed to autocross. Give it a quick read but Tobias is fine to come on out.

Cool. I was talking to my dad about it, IMO it would be a good way for him to learn how to respect a cars power and know going fast belongs on the track. Does not turn 14 till the end of July, time to start looking for a cheap stock car.

Friday Video

Enjoyed watching this video - Nothing like hear turbos sucking and BOV's spitting air out first thing in the morning.

I love how pissed off he gets when he has slow traffic in front of him.

Gotta love the porsche!
